I'm looking at options for cheap plinking bullets.

Has anyone here used pulled 7.62x39 bullets and swaged/resized them down from .310/.311 to .308 to be used in a 300 Blackout? Did you resize them down to .309 and then .308? How did they work out for you in the end?

Cheapest 308 pills I can find are 150gr FMJ at 26¢ a pill vs 123gr .310 pulls at 16¢ each.

I thought about those too. I'd have to keep the load under 1900fps which is kinda under Hodgdon's minimum powder load for 125gr using H110. Hopefully without cycling issues. I'd have to resize those down to 308 from 310?

Unless they're steel core, they can easily be sized to 0.308" in one pass, just lube them with a bit of case lube.

At $16/100, why not try them and report back?

The berry's I'm talking about are 150gr, but they are flat nose and might not feed good. They also say keep it under 1700, but I personally wouldn't put much concern on that if it's just for plinking.

the pulled bullets will be 0.311 Diameter not 0.308 -------So Too big

Any (Most) 308 bullets will work in the blackout from the 110g Jacketed to the 247g Cast boolet

if you shoot cast, the heaver boolits will function the action better (with the correct powder selection) 150-247g

I've tried a flat nosed plated bullet and they won't feed at all.

Do you actually shoot 300 BLK or are you just talking? Nobody has any troubles getting light bullets to cycle a semi-auto action. The only potential issue with the use of a .311 bullet is the neck dimension. Otherwise a .311 will go down a .308 bore with no issues.

I'd try to make them work without resizing them .

The whole key to this is the loaded round neck dimension. As long as your cases have a thin enough neck, the 311 bullets will feed and fire just fine.

Hey Suputin

Look what I found. They aren't in yet, but they are coming. CSC will be carrying them I believe.
I copy and pasted this from their web site.

This is the key point right here. For me, anything with a neck diameter over .335 usually results in a failure to completely chamber. That diameter is a combination of the bullet diameter and 2x the neck wall thickness. Some parent brass(usually military) is too thick even with a .308 bullet. Starting with a .311/0 bullet just makes things tighter. If you have a reliable source of brass that has a neck wall thickness thin enough then you should be good.

Not sure what resizing will do the the plating on plated bullets. Its only a couple of thousands, but the plating can be quite thin.

I have managed to get the 150 gn plated flat nose to feed, but with my CAA mags only... but still not 100%
