Just purchased one of these, and I'm wondering if the Norinco Compact parts and pieces are interchangeable with other 1911 compacts? I ran into a host of ugliness when I built an FN FAL years ago. Turned out there were metric, Inch, and thread differences in FAL's that were a friggin' nightmare! I'm hoping Norinco clones are exact copies for bushings, trigger groups, slides etc etc with American/Canadian parts?

Yup they are (supposed to) built to the same spec. But don't count on all the parts you want to swap out to just drop in. Even if it's a colt, new parts usually need fitting.

On Norc 1911's , the 4 grip screw bushings have a metric threading to the frame.
The grip screws themselves are fine but not the bushings.
Other than that, as Showcase said, standard 1911.

Ok thanks guys. Sounds like I can have some fun then. So who has a good supply of 1911 parts and pieces in Canada, and can we import parts from the US from some places who have the proper export licenses etc? Is Brownell's a good choice?

good luck.....nobody sells 1911 parts in Canada

Marstar sells some Norinco parts but that's it......Dlask sells a few 1911 parts but doesn't have much. that's about it for all of Canada

I just go to all the gun shows and sometimes get lucky. as soon as any 1911 parts come up on the equipment exchange they're usually sold within minutes

I always say someone should sell 1911 parts in Canada, and not just the cheap stuff.....and not everyone wants extended and ambidextrous everything on their gun. trying to find a single sided non extended safety is like trying to catch a unicorn

the market is flooded with AR parts in Canada but no 1911 parts

I want all original style parts, or retro parts

I posted on EE for the past year with very little luck

I import parts out of the US all the time, I have an import license, maybe PM me and let me know what your looking for.

You can't go wrong with Brownells - and if it is ITAR controlled - so long as it's not prohib in Canada - they'll help you with the papwerwork to bring it here. Doing that now (through them) for a new barrel for my Springfield 1911 ...

Anyone know where I can buy a slide that will fit the compact chrome 1911 from canada ammo?

Even if its just another matt chrome one ..

Yeah I saw the slide on yours, and that kinda worried me a bit. When I get mine I'll be taking it apart REALLY carefully before I do anything else and deburring the crap out of it. Was it the front edges of the frame that did that to the slide sides? Does CanadaAmmo not carry extra slides? They are just considered a part.

Although i have never tried to import 1911 barrel but i have import AR barrel from brownell. Just click on the button that saids available outside US

order any parts (no frame) from Bob Serva at Fusion Firearms in NY, they can export any parts in stock to Canada to a max of 200.USD
also Numrich Gunparts have same policy as Fusion, but Numrich have an export fee on top of shipping.

Yeah it was the frame, and no they don't carry the chrome slides. Should be fine once you go over it and do a good deburring.

Thanks for the info Wolfstrack. I checked out the Fusion site, looks very interesting. Now over some morning coffee I'm going to check out Numrich. :)
