Not sure if it needs to be here or on the powderless section, but optics are that.
Heard rumours that a rifle scope on pellets guns don't seem to last all that well.
Not interested in putting an expensive scope on an air rifle.
What works for you?
Buddy is sending down a 22 cal pellet gun and asked me to do something with
it for optics.
I've got an old Crossman air rifle scope here I told him he could have, but I
think it's a bit below his appreciation of scopes.

Tell me.........................

Reverse recoil is the problem with springer air guns. Both Mueller and Hawke make excellent air gun scopes at very affordable prices.

Edit: there is also parallax, a rifle scope will usually be set around 100 yards. Air gun scopes are in the 50 yard range

It depends on how violent the airgun is. Magnum springers would be the hardest on a scope and a compressed air gun is pretty mild.
Bushnell makes airgun rated scopes that are around $125 new.

Older Bushnell elite 4000 and 4200's are ideal as they are airgun rated and great glass. Should be able to find them at the Kamloops gunshow for not much money.

Cost doesn't matter. a lot of high end scopes are not designed for the back and forth of the spring air rifle. They will also fall apart on a muzzle braked rifle. But can survive on a 375 H&H.

just depends on how the lenses are installed. There are plenty of very inexpensive scopes from Asia designed for air rifles... cause that is what they typically get to use. However, they can suffer from a litany of other issues.

enjoy...

This is fabulous info Jerry.
Never heard this before.
Thanks.
What about red dot scopes......same thing?

My bushnell air gun rated scopes rattled apart. Use a Weaver 4x classic- got this hint from a guy who cleared out pigeons in farmers barns. I have it on a Webly Typhoon.

scopes and ammo, specialty shooting sports outdoors, D&L, airgun source are all Canadian online airgun retailers that will help you get something that will work for you for your price point.
