Bought a bunch of Cobra mags. 10-rounders 9mm. The first 4-5 rounds don't have any nose dive. After that, every round loaded in a mag increases the nose dive for the loaded round. When you stick in the 10th round in the mag, the spring tension is rather high and if you position the round all the way back, it 100% results in first round nose diving when stripped by the slide.

Any reliable solution for that to avoid the first round nose dive? :HFU:

P.S. I shoot round ball FMJ ammo of standard factory length (not reloads).

Common problem with single stack mags.

There's no solution I've found short of downloading the mag or trying a different brad of mag. I had good experience with Wilson ETM mags. They still nose dive, but not to that extent.

Where would you buy Wilsons economically? Where did you buy them?

The ammo I'm using is factory ammo. It's standard throughout the brands. I'm not reloading. All is factory. Shape is identical.

I have found some differences between Remington UMC and other brands where the bullet shape is more rounded and sits deeper in the case and would not feed properly in my CZ Shadow.. Changed ammo and works flawlessly now. I would check the OAL of what you are using and try something with a longer or shorter OAL to see what happens.

Very possible. It didn't occur to me before.

Yes, that's exactly what's happening. The top round is stripped and, whilst doing so, nose dives down onto the lower portion of the ramp. Similar to what is shown in the pictures. The angle is nose dive is such that the round can only go down, not up the ramp.

Common issue. Solution? Differential spring rates front to back. Likelihood of locating springs for this? Zero.

Is the first round hanging up on the feed ramp and failing to load as a result of the nosedive?

I run Cobra mags exclusively in my 9mm 1911, and find te COL is more the issue for me...if I run reloads to max COL, it's no problem...sometimes commercial reloads or even some factory loads are loaded a bit short as
some guns like CZ prefer a shorter COL. I find S&B or AE factory ammo is long and runs great.
If you have some mileage on your rig, you may also want to change your recoil spring.

Exactly what I have found..

Cheapest place to buy Wilson Combat ETM mags is at Brownell's.

Brownells has selection for sure but they're picky what they will ship to Canada and what not. For example, they had no problem, shipping me the mag release but couldn't ship VZ grips because they were classified as part of the frame and thus non-exportable (as per Brownells).

Thanks for the tip anyway :)
