my old P35 has lost its tooth so to speak. the front sight BLADE is now gone. there is no dovetail, and i have no idea what year the gun is, but it is old. where can i find a new BLADE for the front sight.

every place i search online is for new dovetail sights. i cant even find a pic of just a blade. i even looked for used slides, and they all seem to have dovetails.

well after more digging, it seems my gun is a hungarian knock-off of an FN hi-power. the serial number is L 4###X. not a true FN numbered gun. hence the mystery of the front sight.

I bought one of those thinking it was the real thing. Very disappointed when I realized my error. My own fault for not knowing better I guess. They are apparently decent guns, haven't had mine out to try it though. Is this one a good one? Not sure how expensive it is to get done, but if reasonable I'd get the slide dovetailed for whatever sight you like and not look back.

I have an early commercial that came with the usual minimal sights. After a few thousand rounds it came free and IIRC it had two small pins that were staked into the slide. Took it to a loudmouth who epoxied the sight in place. That worked OK for about 80 rounds. Silver solder was the permanent fix.

When you bought this was it sold as a Browning or as a FEG?

i got it years ago. the only markings on it are

"FABRIQUE NATIONAL HERSTAL BELGIQUE"
"BROWNINGS PATENT DEPOSE"

the FEG knock-offs are as good as the FN made guns. machining is really nice, not like a Norinco copy of any gun. besides, why would i doubt it not being original, my registration says FN BELGIUM, the RCMP could never be wrong.

i love the little gun. more accurate than me, no problems other than hammer bite and now the front sight is missing. i think i will get it milled and some Novak sights installed.

The way you shoot the lack of a front sight can only help you :p

FN at some point had a strike and got some guns made by someone else while that went on. As far as I know FN doesn't officially acknowledge it but it is thought that they used FEG to make a fun of HiPower pistols. Regardless of whether FN had their product made in an FN owned factory by FN employees or they contracted someone else to make it, FN is entitled to call it a genuine FN.

Thereafter FEG started producing a very HiPower-like double action pistol which is what Norinco makes copies of.
