So I had my door open and window down using the door to steady my new t97, after about 5 mags I realized that all the brass was bouncing off my windshield making nice big spiderwebs everywhere. Oops lesson learned when trying out a new gun check where the emptys are going to end up.

Not as bad as a guy I know who destroyed his windshield by shooting his .50 BMG from the hood of his truck (lots of pressure from those things) but ended up with a broken window nontheless. ;)

That's what I was thinking as well...loaded firearm in a motor vehicle.

So are you concerned for the safety of this guy, or are you just fishing for someone to point at and say, "teacher, teacher, Johnny is breaking the rules!"
Not trying to start an argument, but why not p.m. him?

ah i know a chap who fired his 458 win mag, using the top of his chevette as a rest ! worked out ok... cept for the massive powder blast pattern burned into the paint

Neither. I inferred that the only physical danger was presented to his truck and merely thinking out loud that he may have been lucky in more ways than one.

Not to mention that it could be construed as shooting from a vehicle.(?)

Definitely not allowed in ontario. I know of two charged for shooting across their hood and one for shooting from the tailgate. COs rolled up on all three of them while they were target shooting (2 different instances).

f:P: CGN Nannies and liberal legal whiner trolls trying to stick it in the back of a fellow members and shooters on a public forum. This crap is getting out of hand here on the forum.

As long as both feet are on Terra Firma it's not a problem as the OP's was. Now taking a shot at game while touching a vehicle that is another issue all together.

If your sitting inside and shooting out a window or out a sun roof etc then this is a big problem.

When my wife's father was alive he leaned over the box of his brand new Chevy to sight in his hunting rifle the day before deer season. The scoped rifle had been bouncing around behind truck seats since the end of last years deer hunt and was a little....out. The first shot ripped a 1 ft tear in the opposite side of the box. I'm told as he hammered the sheet metal back into place with his rifle butt he said: 'Janice'll never notice!'
A little hard on equipment that one...
