Really? The end of cheap SKS's?

Keep in mind that once local dealers sell rifles from last shipment they will have to bring new rifles. From what I heard wholesale price on SKSs from last shipment was 30% higher because of Ukrainian troubles. I called few central BC dealers most were either sold out or had less then half a crate left

Called my local firearms retailer, and he has laminates for $199... doubt they are premium/select grade... I guess I better check it out to make sure!.

Still a fair amount available locally here, but they're mostly bottom of the barrel types. I managed to scrounge out a decent 51 with a black/blued bayonet to toss in the safe for the next twelve years or so till my soon to arrive little girl is old enough for a real rifle. If luck holds I just might have a Chinese model by the end of the week too! That makes three semi autos in a month, take that RCMP!

So the hoarding/panic has set in,, and we have been making fun of the Americans! Some of the most prolific surplus firearms existing in history since the stone and we are panicing that they will run out!!! :0) Lots in Halifax!

I'm finally picking up my 1950 laminate Russian sks ($200 tax in) tomorrow after work. It's been waiting for me for a few days. Also got a crate of ammo for $26

I talked to my dad tonight ,he said the sks are going for 800 plus in Arkansas. Still 179.00 at crappy tire and milarm.

I see Westrifle has gone back to a conventional rivet method. Probably for the best. The internal pin was prone to feeding issues in some instances.

Here's Westrifle's new rivet method. Very discreet.

Here's Westrifles earlier "metal block pinned to follower pivot point" method. This later evolved into a smaller piece of round bar stock.

Here's weimajack's rivet method. Also very clean, and flat.

Here's the oh so lovely "frankenpin" method. Thankfully no longer done.

Here's my favourite method, small bar stock welded to follower arm, employed on the early 2008 IZH imports.

SKSs are alot of gun for the money......I bought one laminate last year for 200 , and three more laminates in Jan. of this year for 150 each when they were on sale . I suspect , if the price went too high , that they would not be near as popular as they are now . I bought my four because they were cheap , and i suspect that many others bought for the same reason.......with higher prices , demand will drop quickly....

Interesting technique to reduce mag capacity- our SKS models just have the magazine cut back to allow for five or seven shots maximum. I got lucky and have a seven shot version.
