If your a purist, this may make you sick.

Jungle gun for sure, it looks pretty good.

That is coming from a guy who leaves all the original hardware and stocks on his guns. The only thing I change occasionally is the finish and no paint.

First off let me say that you've done a lovely job on it. I personally prefer military rifles to wear their original hardware and wood, but you have every right to alter a rifle to suit your wants. If it were mine, I'd have put a muzzle break on 'er. I had a buddy who owned almost exactly the same rifle but with a black stock. The muzzle blast off that sucker was unbelievable!

I'm not normally one for the altering of Mosin's but I think you've done a good and very respectable job of it. I'm curious how it would shoot with the shorter barrel and I wonder what it's going to look like when you get your bolt finished. Good job all over though man, that's a classy way to mod your Mosin.

I got the ATI scope mount in a deal from another CGN'r. It was real easy to install. A punch and good drill bits go a long way. I have seen the ATI scope mounts for mosin and enfields at Wholesale sports for $40-$50.

Hey guys. I changed my 1942 Mosin Nagant, into something else. ATI stock, cut the barrel down to 20", tapped the receiver for a scope mount, and put a scope on it. Also did a bit of painting, and decided with this paint scheme.

Also, do you think I need to add anymore colour for the camo? I'm going for a woodland kinda thing. Also, how can I take my shiny bolt, and make it permanently black?

What scope mount do you have? Is that the Rock Solid? Can't get those up here! I doubt you did anything but make a 100$ rifle into something better suited to your needs. Your rifle, do what you want. Maybe add a bit more brown and tan to break it up a bit??

Seeing as how Mosin's in their stock form are among the UGLIEST guns a guy can pickup, I think you "prettified" your Mosin alot. That looks 100 times better. Nice job.

Really? I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It's like we say in French... les goûts et les couleurs ne se discutent pas... you can't discuss taste or color. :)

I happen to think a stock Mosin Nagant is one of the best looking battle rifles on the planet.

I am not changing a thing on my '34 91/30 Tula, other than removing the rear leaf sight and replacing it with a scope mount from S&K and adding a Bushnell LER scope so I can use it for deer hunting. It does not damage the rifle and does nothing to it I can reverse.

Anyhow, for the OP... Happy shooting with your new sporter !!!

Hi there
Can you tell me more about how you attached the mount to the receiver please? I see epoxy mentioned, also drill/tap.
And I gotta say, I love the look. And did you start with a rifle or carbine version??
Thanks
Tim

The scope is a $10.00 2-7x shotgun scope I stumbled across at basspro. I had it out a couple of weeks ago, and was shooting a 1litre nalgene bottle consistently at 100-150 yards. So I was pretty happy with that.
She started life as a full length mosin.
I also have another mosin, but it is in completely stock form, and will stay that way. I just love shooting the 7.62x54r round.

Sweet!! I would have done a lighter camo job on it. Maybe something in the brownish/grey scheme. But I was reading up on shortening those barrels, supposed to really add a kick and huge flash! Is that true?
