Optic on top of AR carry handle rear sight

Here's the right direction for those mounts:
Too high (sometimes even a chin weld may become an issue) and holding zero might be an issue since you are introducing more points of mechanical failure. I'm not familiar with JRC's but if you wanna mount optics, remove the carry handle if possible, go flattop. If not, just use the irons.

If your ear protection is preventing a proper cheek weld and sight alignment, you're doing it wrong. Stop rolling your head over.

You can go with lower profile (rifle-oriented) muffs. Howard Leights are a good choice even though I had better results shooting rifles with Caldwells in low profile. They're pretty cheap too even though not as well liked for some reason. Mine worked GREAT and if I didn't suffer a flood, I'd have still been shooting with them.
Edit: The model is platinum G3 and they are battery hogs.. 3xaaa per side, but great noise circuitry (superior to howard leights) and better cheek weld

Not sure if you're still looking at options, but Colt used to make a 4x20 carry handle scope. I have one and it's great, if you don't mind going old school. They haven't made them for a long time but they do come up for sale from time to time.
Yeah, that's why I don't like ear muffs. They are bulky and can get in the Way.
I picked up a used Strikefire, and it came with the low mount. No good on the flat top, but I had a carry handle rail, and it seems to work pretty good for me, used in CQB clinics so far and had no problems. YMMV.
