Kimber 8400 montana problem

Hey guys and gals,

I'm having some trouble with my Kimber Montana in 270. First off lifting the bolt handle is far from what I would describe as smooth, especially for a rifle I put so much of my hard earned money into. Furthermore there is plenty of play side to side when sliding the bolt reward to eject the spent shell and when sliding it forwards which can cause the stroke to get hung up if I don't pull back on it perfectly straight. Are these characteristics that are just inherent of Mauser style actions, is there something I have been missing when cleaning it, or is it something bigger and should I be taking the gun back to Cabelas to see if it needs to be sent back to Kimber? Any similar experience you guys have had or suggestions you can make about how to fix the problem would be greatly appreciated. I love the lightweight of the gun and it fits me better than any other bolt gun I've handled so I would like the bolt to be as good as everything else.

Kimbers are silky smooth, sticky bolt lift and bind are not normal. Kimber has a canadian depot for warranty work (Korth group IIRC) If you like it that much contact Kimber and arrange the warranty work, if not you can return it to cabelas and use the credit to buy 3 gritty Savages! ;)
If it was mine I'd probably tinker with it, but without knowing how handy you are I wouldn't suggest it.
I buy many,many rifles new and old of all different makes and find most of them need some tweaking here and there either functionally or aesthetically for me to call them perfect.

Thats what I've been thinking. I can be fairly handy but when it comes to guns thats an area where I tend to be leery and leave it to the professionals. Im gonna take it in to cabelas tomorrow and see what they think. Hopefully they can see what the problem is better than I can and can put me in touch with the right people since its been less than a year since purchase and the gun has only had about 50 rounds through it
 
Try some lube on the cocking cam, firing pin assembly threads and the rear of the locking lugs, SOP on any bolt action rifle.

Ive had it down and cleaned and oiled every surface I could think would need it but maybe I'll run through it again before I go in

It's been less than a year. Ive been slowly trying to sort the problem out on my own but nothing I've tried has worked so this was kind of a last effort to find something else I could try before sending it away. The gun also doesn't see a ton of use. Had it out twice to sight it in, and a few times during hunting season but only took 2 unfortunately unsuccessful shots during that time. Because it does function, just not as well as it should and because it is something I use and handle on a fairly irregular basis it has fallen slightly lower than maybe it should have on my list of priorities.
