Any OTHER revolvers you like?

I think if I *were* to buy a SW it'd be a model 66. They're just too ###y to pass up. The reports of the Alfa Proj seem pretty good but I haven't seen one offered in .357...?

I was talking to a local gun guy and apparently purchasing options are pretty limited for everything right now.

Can any of you rec commend a favorite used gun source? Seems Canada lacks a definitive used firearm source (that has an easy to use website).

.....I didn't try the trigger so I can't comment on the feel, but I must say most of my Ruger's break clean in single action without a hitch including my new SP 101 .22lr right out of the box.

Have you tried the SA break on a S&W? Yes, I agree that the Rugers are rather nice. But the feel of them indicates that they have the usual two lips that rub over each other so there is still a slight touch of creep before the break. On the other hand the S&W uses some sort of different system and there is simply no detectable trigger motion before the break. Just a build of pressure until the break and then the trigger moves a short distance AFTER the break. The Ruger and similar feel of the AP, compared to S&W is simply apples to parsnips.

BCRiders comments reminded me of a destroyed newly made CA revolver at a nearby gunshop. No details were forthcoming. The barrel was ruptured for about 1 inch just ahead of the frame & on the lower part. It's not fair pose much more comment without any facts......

A barrel rupture is typically a case of a squib then a second shot taken and the two crash into each other. A blown open cylinder is generally a double charge or big charge of the wrong powder. Neither is the gun's fault.

Candown, then you'll know what I mean about the SA pull. A K frame is a K frame is a K frame after all.

Jon, the 586 is even BETTER than a 686 for those of us that know deep in our hearts that guns are all naked if they aren't blued...... :D You'll love it. Do yourself a favour though and get the Wolff spring kit. Use the lightest of the rebound springs and enjoy the great trigger in DA mode and the almost thought control like SA.

Yeahhh doesn't need a lighter trigger. Guys at arnies measured the double action at just over 7 lbs and the single at just over 2. Christ my 5946 is probably 13 or 14 lbs.

I have a bunch of wheel jobs. I find the GP100 overbuilt. Each time I pick it up I expect to see 44 sized holes in the chamber.

Never picked up a K frame that did not feel good and shoot well.

I think the cheaper sleeper is the Ruger Security Six. Not as big as a GP100.

Security Six's are nice specially when found for the right price.
The SP 101 4.2" is a real sweet little .357 as well!

Nobody seems to mention the Chiappa Rhino. I know they don't seem to be very popular, I also know they're an expensive .357 Rem Mag wheelie...other than that, I gots nada.

Any owners that can comment for the OP? If the price was right it might be an alternative to the Rugers or Smiths.

*cough,cough*ugly gun*cough*

Ugly, and I'd have issues laying that much cash down for a Chiappa anything.

That triple barrel shotgun of theirs looks boss, though...

I had one for a while.
I actually don't mind the look , it's fairly ergonomic to shoot and the muzzle flip is noticeably less. Trigger pull is OK in double action not great but not terrible single action was pretty good but cocking the little cocking tab was a bit stiff.
At the end of the day I decided to just stick with my Rugers and the traditional muzzle flip of a .357 which in the grand scheme of magnum recoils is something that most people should be able to adapt too.
I was also worried that in the long term all the extra "watch like" pieces necessary in the design might be a weak link.

Got my 586 today, love it. Haven't shot it yet but I'll take it out to the "range" this weekend if I can get the boss to loan me some ammo.

I haven't handled one yet but a Ruger new bisley vaquero is one ###y single action that is available in .357. It's on my short list of guns to get.
