Hey sorry if there are a million posts on this but I was only able to find one using the search, and I have some more specific questions.

First off I have just passed the PAL and RPAL coarse about a 2 months ago, I mailed in my application over a month ago and if all goes well I should be getting my lic in the near future. And then I will be in the market for a Glock 19 that is converted to a legal length barrel for Canada.

So I am looking for a local gun dealer that offers that service, and I am located in the GTA Ontario area. The only stores I have found that have them listed for sale are online stores, but being my first gun purchase if possible I would like to go to a real store in person. I don't mind driving too far, and I want to build a relationship with a good gun store that will also hopefully be able to sell and give me advice on accessories and mods in the future as I am into that kind of modifying and personalizing things.

Also I have seen in my searches for Canadian legal Glock 19's that most are using a Lone Wolf barrel to convert to legal length that are silver in color. Personally I would pay extra to get a black barrel, and I would also pay more if there is a specific brand barrel that is higher quality. Basically I want the closest to OEM Glock quality or better and black if possible.

Thank for any info and advice you can give me on this

Questar imports with a black barrel and there are some very good used g19's on the EE right now with black wolf or threaded glock barrels. your not likely to find a store that has everything you want and all the expertise your looking for. this site does contain all of that !

Thanks I did not realize Questar is in Barrie, thats perfect for distance, but do they have a retail store? Or is it online store only?

Personally for my first gun Id like to buy new and the roughly $1000 price tag for new is less then I was expecting to pay for a big brand name gun anyways so its within my budget. When I get the lic I was planning to walk into a store and spend roughly $2000 cash on a start up setup, as I will need transport case, small safe, gun lock, ear muffs, glasses, etc etc. If I understand correctly I can take everything home with me the day I purchase besides the gun itself, and Id only have to wait for them to register my gun and get a ATT for me to take it from the store to my home. Is it even possible for a store to ship you a restricted weapon?

It is very easy to have a retailer ship a restricted to your door and it can also be done with a private sale. I run guns also imports many 19's and you may be able to request a black barrel

Thanks I will contact them and see what they say, I just called Questar and they do not run a retail location, so it is a online/shipping store only. Which is fine I guess, but I asked how long it takes to get one and he said he cant say, it can take 3 weeks or it can take 3 months they just dont know...The guns arrive randomly, they might get one they might get 5, but they are always presold before they get them....Not a big deal its a long process just to get the lic, but if there is somewhere that can get it faster or at least give an estimate on delivery Id rather go that route...

Maybe I will just not be so picky and pick up a 17 that are in stock

Thanks again

You don't want a LW black barrel. The finish on it wears off really quick and looks like crap. It is not the same finish as a factory Glock barrel or the plasma coated barrel on the IGB. I have both the IGB and 2 LW stainless. Stainless doesn't look that bad.

So why do you think the LW black oxide barrels are slightly more expensive than the LW stainless barrels? Doesn't make any sense to me (confused).

All LW barrels are stainless to begin with. No additional finish required would be the reason that they are a bit less expensive to buy.

I read in this forum, that Glock will make a 19 for the Canadian market, soon. Anybody with info about it?

I'd go with a 17 and get the quality factory barrel, besides the 17's are everywhere. Beware the erratic ejection, just sayin.

I agree with getting the 17. Spend the extra money on more ammo or an Advantage Arms .22 conversion kit. As far as the 'erratic ejection,' I don't have a problem with my Gen 4... When I let someone try it that isn't familiar with handguns, they occasionally gets an ejected case to the head. I think it helps if you grip it firmly.

Well I sent an Email to I run Guns and they only have silver LW barrels in stock, and said the same thing no ETA at all on a black one. In fact they didnt even really answer my questions even after 2 emails, I asked if I could special order it with a black one and wait for it, or if I could even buy the gun with the silver barrel they have in stock and they sell me the black barrel separate and ship it whenever it comes in...The answer to a multiple question email was simply "My friend we have no ETA on a black barrel for the Glocks. All we currently have is the polished barrels"

So this is really why I was looking for a shop I could go to in person and talk to someone that is actually interested in getting me what I want. Seems the online stores have what they have in stock and really do not care to special order or even answer my specific questions. Im not trying to waste anyone's time, Im looking to spend money so its a bit annoying not getting the questions answered as a potential customer.

Now about the 19 itself, I really would prefer to get the 19 over the 17, and I was planning the eventually buy a 21 or even an HK 45 also after getting some experience shooting the 9mm. And the price of the barrel or ammo isn't really a factor, as I said I would even like to spend more on a better brand barrel if there is one. In terms of hobbies this is a new one for me, but so far looks to be a lot cheaper then my other hobbies LOL So if anyone has any suggestions for other high quality barrels I could buy or other stores that sell them Id appreciate the info. I assume that since the gun can be mail ordered, that as long as the barrel is above the Canadian legal limit I can also mail order any barrel brand that I can find?

For now if anything when I get my lic in the mail I will buy the silver barreled one that they have in stock, and possibly change it out at a later date.

I don't understand what is so wrong with a G17, that you want to get a G19 lengthened into making it closer to a G17?

Why not get a G17 to begin with? Because the pistol grip is a bit longer, too?

I dont know if I want LW at all....I get the feeling that LW isn't a great quality barrel, just a good or decent barrel that is cheap and easy to get? I read some reviews and posts about barrels and there were others mentioned that were supposed to be better, but apparently harder to get...

I prefer black to match the gun and not stand out like someone mentioned, but its not the end of the world if its not black....Im more concerned about quality actually, if there was a better barrel for 2X the price and it was yellow Id probably still buy it

Just a preference, stupid as it may seem Id just prefer to have it over the 17.....And I have read some posts from people that have owned or do own both the 19 and 17, and that there is no big difference in their shooting accuracy between the 2 guns really...

Who knows maybe I'll end up with a 19 and 17 also, Id just like to start with the 19 personally
