Aside from the location of the safety , this is a Mossberg 500 , so anything for a 500 should fit it.

All 500 mods are compatible except for the fore end ,barrels stocks etc all a go also the top of the receiver is not drilled and tapped
otherwise great firearm at an unbeatable price point

The action bars are pinned to the forend , there is no slide tube on the 88 , but you can replace it with a 500 slide tube and then you can use any forend that'll fit a 500/590 that you want.

wow, I was just going to post up about what forends I can get for a Maverick 88

so do you have to change the tube etc to do it, or is there any aftermarket forends that actually fit?

most pump shotguns have a Action Slide Tube Assembly [ not to be confused with the magazine tube ] with a Forearm or Forend that you can swap out for which ever one you want , On the 88 , as a cost saving measure the action bars are pinned to the forearm itself , it's all one piece.
So , short answer , You need to get a action tube assembly for a Mossberg 500/590 in order to use a different forearm / forend on a 88 .
