How many, and what different calibers do you own?

Hmm.

Interesting how most everyone on this site hates any form of gun registry but will still spill their guts at the drop of a hat:rolleyes:

Just my small change, with respect as to a small degree I understand what you're trying to say.

1. We're in a forum discussing hunting and sporting arms, they expect us to talk about them here at length and nobody is compiling lists of how many .250 Savages, or chambering in general, we own.

2. Living in fear of the boogeyman never suited me much. The risks are no greater than the people at Home Hardware or Canadian Tire watching which truck you drive off in after you buy ammunition.

3. We're in a forum discussing hunting and sporting arms, one must be prepared to note some actually want to do that here, and some are passionate about them and may own several.

.22 lr
.22 Hornet
.25 Remington
.30 Remington
.32 Remington
.35 Remington
.303 British
.30-30 Winchester
.32 Winchester Special
.30-06 Springfield
.308 Winchester
7.62X39
7.62X54R
7.92X57 mm Mauser
7.55X55 Swiss
6.55X55 Swedish
.44-40 Winchester
.38-55 Winchester
.300 Savage
.401 Winchester Self Loading

That's 20 calibers for just my rifles.... so far anyway.

So, just how does a list of cartridges, not linked to any specific firearm, posted by an anonymous user handle have any possible plausible link to any kind of firearms registry?

NAA.

Anonymous? I hope so, but I don't find it far fetched that someone (or some organization) could use information posted on various web forums to the detriment of the poster. I have nothing to hide, but find the comment made by PSE worth some thought. You probably have more insight as a moderator regarding the privacy policies of this web forum I imagine...

I'm feeling somewhat inadequate at the moment. Let us see now, hmmm
5x 22lr
1x223
1x 6.5x57 Mauser
1x 270 Win
1x 308 Win
1x 7.62x54R
3x8x57 Mauser
I think I need to find a few more Mausers, such fine guns, so little time.

I started this thread thinking I had a fairly good collection. Now I see, I'm just getting started lol

I should have asked, of the Calibers you own, what is your favourite, and why?

Out of mine, I would say the 6mm PPC is now my favourite. Simply because it is super accurate, once you have you brass bought and prepped, it is easy to load for, inexpensive to shoot, and recoil is next to non-existent so you can shoot it all day it you like.

I really don't have a favorite cartridge, I rather like most of them, however, if I was to choose one all around cartridge for North American big game hunting, it would be the 300 Weatherby. Unlike your 6mm PPC, the 300 Weatherby will wake a person up on the bench because of it's hard snapping recoil, however, it does kill big game cleanly.
Current inventory:
Sling shot
17 HMR
22 LR
240 Wby.
257 Wby
270 Wby
300 Wby
7mm STW
6.5x284 Norma
300 WSM
308 Win.

We're not all so paranoid that we won't even discuss what our rifles are chambered in. If you're in Ontario, the CFO has a record of that anyway.

To answer the original question:

.22lr, 7.62x39, .223, .308, 7.62x54r, .303Brit, .45-70

Nothing really too interesting from a cartridge standpoint. Part of the problem is my hunting rifles are mostly bolt action. 308's or milsurps. I may have to shake this up a bit and get something interesting, like a 9.3x62.
