Yeah, so I'm one of those jump both feet in keener kind of guys. I have an AR-15 ordered, but since it was a three month wait for my PAL/RPAL I did a tonne of research on the platform and building one.... so I started ordering parts. Just got my lower receiver this weekend and put the finishing touches on. Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture, but it was midnight.

I've torqued everything to spec, tested the trigger for proper reset and tested after (with snap caps). BCG travels nicely into the gas tube, so pretty sure it's all aligned. Any other tests I should do before taking it to the range and firing the first round (other than a clean/lube)?

I started the same way.
By the time I got my RPAL I knew every pin and every spring of the AR, and even custom assembled my own LPK from Wolverine Parts.

The thing about the sight is radius. You want the post to be as forward as possible.

I intentionally run my front sight backwards cause I gain a bit of extra radius, and also cause if I don't it gets in the way of my thumb when it's folded down if I'm using a TOF grip.
