Choke for the KSG

I'm looking to set up my KSG for bird hunting. Part of which would be loading dowels in the mag tubes, but the main thing was getting a choke adapter for it. It will install a 2" Remington choke, which should extend the barrel to 20".

My question, with this barrel length, what is the recommended choke to be using for bird hunting?
 
No simple answer to that one really, you really have to pattern and see what pattern suits your needs at the given range you intend to hunt at. I have been looking into this with my Silver since I am not impressed with the patterns so far and don't want big holes when I'm going after ducks/grouse/geese. It depends on your distance and the load types - what you pattern with target may be different to #5 which could be different to BB.

In our 870s, my group uses improved cylinders or a modifieds for ducks with great success, but it's going to be different to the next batch of guns and shooting styles.

Barrel length has little to no effect on either patterning or velocity. What choke do you normally use for birds? That will be the choke you might as well use for your KSG.

I hadn't been bird hunting before. Mostly shot clays with the KSG (no choke) and have been meaning to get a choke adapter. Finally have one on order. A friend invited me out bird hunting. Not sure what the recommended choke might be. I'm leaning more towards a modified choke, maybe even full as I have this shotgun sighted with a red dot out to 35 yards with slugs.

Fair enough. Modified is generally what works best for "all" scenarios. Obviously if your quarry is far away, say over 40 yards, you should get something tighter. Full will be overkill for anything that is too close, and you will likely wreck the bird if it is small.

Where did you order your choke adapter if you don't mind me asking.
