Just wondering, of all the the SKS's out there and to those who own multiple versions.

Which make of SKS is the most accurate? I know they are not precision rifles in any way,
but for just general plinking and short range target practice, which one should I buy.

Russian - I think they look nice, the historic value it there as well
Yugoslavia - I have heard that they are very well built but harder to find
Chinese (Norinco) - I have heard that they are pretty accurate but not as well built

Well, that's it. Those of you who own any of these and have done comparisons, I would like to know
what your opinion is.

Clearly my SKS is the best and most accurate. Why? Because it is mine and I am an amazing shot with it (put a can of beer at 50m and I will hit it every time). it is a Norinco with Choate mount and Bushnell TRS-25.

Whyyyyy!!!!! Your shooting beer?... Don't do it, think of the thirsty around the world... Oh the waste. Unless of course it is American beer then go for it... Mostly water anyway. Commence firing;)

My Chi Com is far more accurate tan my Russian! :), its just not nearly as pretty! I am gonna build up the back end of my stock on my Russian one a bit and see if I can tighten it up. I suspect once I d that it will shoot A LOT more like my Chi Com.

I like shooting 20 cent cans of no name soda from Dollarama with my Chicom SKS. My Russian just isn't as accurate. I need to spend more time sighting it in. All irons with mine as well, no optics.

There is a variety of tolerances in a military firearm of that era. Most will shoot the same, some better, some worse. My Type 56 is accurate as most of my Russians. A couple of my Russians are great, 1 is absolute garbage (but looks far nicer than the Type 56). You won't know until you buy and shoot, but chances are it will be completely fine for the job it was intended for (100m head shots and up to 300m torso hits).

my scoped Chinese used to shoot 3 inches at 100 yards with surplus ammo. lately it changed to 5 inches. a good cleaning with wipe out (1 hour soak) and it was back to 3 inches. I am quite pleased with that. When it did 3 inch mil surp groups it also shot near one inch groups with hunting ammo.
Back to the op, my izzy refurb is just as accurate as the Chinese at 50 yards with its tech sights. picking only one, I'd say the izhevsk due to the build quality.

Im going to say albanian just because of the cool looking mag and handguard.
but like said earlier it does vary from rifle to rifle ive seen some russians shoot minute of beer can and some minute of polar bear

You get 2 m.o.a. out of any SKS you keep it & your friends will call you a liar!!!

Lol, my buddy has one like that....
Put a cheap scope on it and managed a fair number of 1 1/2" groups at 100 yards. His old man says 'prove it' so they head out back, he fires three shots and it cloverleafs. Never again, before or after. His old man is still pissed about it...
That said, expect 2" and larger 100 yard groups from pretty much all of them. Probably a fair bit larger in most cases.

I'm happy so far with the accuracy of my Chinese SKS (the one with no factory triangle stamp or Chinese markings marstar was selling). Not so happy with my terrible shooting! Although I can say 9 were bad because I had to zero the rifle first ;) I was using surplus Czech ammo. Still have to try it out at 100y.

Wow, nice looking sks! I wish I could find an archangel stock like that

We tried all years (All guns had New Mint Barrels) 1950-1956, Best accuracy was coming from 1950 non chromed lined barrel. We only tried 1 rifle for a year so it is not very representative. However my personal SKS rifle with POSP scope is 1950 and with Yugo ammunition brass cases will shoot 2 inch groups or less from bench at 100m
