I've been using the iron sights on all my SKS. I want to install a new sight on one of my SKS so I'm looking for some testimonials from anyone who has installed either one (or both) of these sights (SKS Tech TS200 Sight or Williams SKS Firesights) on their SKS. Give me all the good, bad and ugly details and would you install it again or just stick with the iron sights?

Thanks.

I have read reviews of the firesight having some left-right play in them?

I came across Mojo sights http://www.mojosights.com/sample-page/ak-sks/
and they seem to be very similar to the firesight, but I cannot find many reveiws on them as to whether they also have a problem with wiggle room?

The TechSights are also an idea, but I dont like the idea of having to remove them to clean the rifle - cleaning the SKS is such a simple process, I dont want to add anything to it.

edit - also, there is a lot of mixed reviews about whether or not these hold zero when being removed for cleaning.

The other option I can think of would be getting a scout mount, and getting a reflex or red dot to put on it, but that is a lot more money... And I dont want to spend $150 to improve the sights on a $225 rifle, plus it just doesn't look right on an otherwise bone stock SKS.

of the two sights the best choice is the ts200. better sight radius and works great if you need reading glasses.

gun take down and assembly takes an extra 5 minutes Max. You decide if that is worth it to you. It is for me

I'm waiting on one of these sights to arrive, fancied something different and I like the idea of this one.

I'll post a review on it after it arrives and has been abused.

I had the TS-200 and to be honest the apature is tiny. I have good eyes and just found it to small, you add dusk or dawn into the equation and you cant see #### through those sites. Real bad in low light, just my 2 cents.

Williams is easy enough to order. Call and order straight from the company. He ships here too.
Less than one beers' time to install.

I have one russian with the tech sights, which I get amazing accuracy with, and I have a chinese which I put on the williams. I tried sighting it in but forgot a little slot screwdriver to adjust elevation and was shooting way too high. I still need to sight it in, but I MUCH prefer the sight picture on the tech sights. The ease of disassembly of the sks with the williams is the reason I tried it. Hopefully when I get it sighted in, it will be better. Go with tech sights is my opinion for now lol

I am stuck as well trying to decide which one to go with, Williams or tech ts200. The ts200 nice with the longer sight radius, but more expensive and increased difficulty with field strip, also there is the potential issue with re zero after disassembly.

Williams is half the price, plus you get the front sight, and no difference to field stripping, or re zeroing. Do all these advantages make up for the shorter sight radius?

Help!

tried williams firesight set...
pros : easy to install/return to stock
retains zero (after cleaning)
price
cons : front sight too wide
doesn't gather light well (as other fiber optic sights)
sight radius remains the same as stock
...chuck stock front post in drill and reduce width (easy to make into a 'target' front post

I have both. I even tried using both at the same time. Ha.... In the end it is the tech sight that wins. Maybe one day I will try the front fire sight with the tech sight?!? All I know is the last round of shooting I removed the tech sight and went back to the stock rear sight and the gun was still on target. I would suggest if you go with the tech sight you may need a longer length of pull.

I am agreeing with Shotgun bob. The Williams is easy to install and is a great sight picture. That is for the rear only. My front firesight platic post didn't easily fit, so I just use the original front post. Nice setup IMO

Got the Tech. I hate the strip down. Also the Tech adds 1/4 inch to the rear of your receiver, Tapco and Ati stocks will have to be I inletted. I like the seeall and BC tactical makes a scout mount that fits the SKS sight block
