Is it just me or is .22LR hard to find?

just got off the phone with Reliable and they only have Federal Game Shock, and it's a pretty penny for a case...$369.

I've got close to 10K in .22LR, but I'm of the opinion you cannot have enough. ;)

where have you seen caselot available Pooface?
 
I was in Al Flaherty's in Toronto on Friday. Guy behind the counter said he had lots of Winchester come in, but hasn't seen any CCI in a couple weeks.
 
Just took a stroll through the local CT and all they had were boxes of .22 bird-shot and $20 .17hmr!!! Didn't check the walmart as all they carry is Winchester and iam not a fan of Winchester rimfire, lucky I still have about 6000 rounds of American eagle, but the Ruger is being a little finicky so I wanted to try some mini-mags. shipping was a little pricey from wolverine.
 
Well Captain, without an address and not knowing where you are looking . . . it is probably you.
I just ordered $900 worth from Ontario last week and if I had the coin could have bought $9000.
 
The Island's Alright.

Seems to be no shortage on The Island. Lots of CCI at our LGS. He had boxes of 500 Remington '22SUBSONIC' hollowpoints. He busted up one of
the big boxes to sell me two boxes of 50.

The shortage here is lead shot.

Italian had a lot of federal/cci about 10 days ago. About $5 more per pack compared to reliable though
 
For you GVRD types:

The Crappy Tire on Grandview Hwy (near Boundary) had many boxes of Winchester 333 and 555 and Remington Yellowjackets, but sadly very little CCI; a handflul of Stingers and Segmented.

Also, no Target Load 12ga to be had 8(
 
The amount I've been shooting it lately, I have a couple years supple at least in my closet. Haven't even looked around to see if there is a shortage, but I did have a hell of a time finding some .22Mag for a gun I had a while ago. Mostly why I got rid of it, can't find it anywhere.

Also a decent amount of Winchester 333 at CT on Marine Dr. & Ontario, I have been buying a box or two every visit and it has always been in stock. Never seen a Win 555 anywhere.

12ga target loads by the case at Reliable, various brands $66 and up. I just picked up a case of Remington last week, might try a different brand if these suck.
 
i was told at wanstalls that there is going to be a shortage a couple months ago so i bought 2 cases of 5000 cci mini mag 40 grain round nose for my sr 22 rifle :) at a local store since they where out.
 
OK..so, I read about the back half of this thread to see if I could find any reference as to the "why" of the shortage~don't see any. I'm not sure if "hoarding" is an issue in Canada or not, but my local shop told me their distributors can't seem to get anything from CCI, and no ETA either. That, in a climate where CCI is supposed to be cranking-out product at capacity, seems very odd to me. I'd have to think that moving product is priority #1~regardless of where it's going....so....is Canada being given the cold shoulder? The last box of CCI I saw on a shelf was some CCI Quiet Segmented HP this past weekend...at a Canadian Tire store IN ONTARIO. Didn't think such a thing was possible~guess it was the distance from Toronto that helps. Anyhow, I grabbed 3 (because I need that particular one) at the BARGAIN price of $7.99 for a box of 50. Yikes.

***I'd actually LOVE to hear what a distributor has to say, what they've been told by CCI, since I know some dealers (based on CGN sponsors and other sources) haven't had CCI in stock for ages. Maybe it comes in and gets sold before it ever hits their websites, but I've called around too. Not sure who CCI's biggest customer is in Canada (what distributor) but it would be nice to have them cast some light on the subject.

***Lastly, I did inquire with CCI directly, but wasn't expecting to get any real insight. I DID ask about 17M2 since (as I understand it) CCI loads Hornady's rimfire ammo. This was the reply;

_______, we have no product listing in 2014 for 17 Mach II ammunition, the only source for this will be from Hornady. We are shipping to Canada, the distributors have ot wait to have their orders filled just like every one else.

That's not very encouraging.

I dropped by a retailer last week (not a CGN sponsor) and was told that they hadn't received any shipments of CCI ammo .22 since last Fall.
