The best 1911 in 22LR?

I have the SIG badged GSG and it is nice. This being said buying the Kimber 45 you want and then the 22lr conversion kit is another option and the quality is likely the best. I have done this as well, it works nicely. you can't lose.

That would be a great long term option if you knew that was what you would be doing right out of the gate..

browning has recently came out with a 1911 .22 pistol. It looks nice but i have had no expierence with one. maybe someone will chime in

Compare it side by side with a regular 1911 and you'll see that it's reduced to around 80% the size of a "real" 1911. Which makes it only suitable for folks and kids with very small hands.

Rusty Wood Trading Company has the GSG .22 conversion kit for $229. That's the best price I found. I'm ordering one for the SAM Thunderbolt. Would have rather had the Advantage Arms Kit, but can't find one.

My point being that if I can put any conversion kit on any 1911 then why not get the 45 I want and then put a 22 conversion kit on it for cheap practice. Is such a thing even possible or even a good idea if it was?

They usually require some fitting so not necessarily drop in.

GSG 1911 .22 lr

I really like my GSG 1911 .22 lr... Mine wears Hogue soft grip panels:

Even as much or more than my real deal Colt .22 conversion unit that I've owned for many years. I even found that the GSG .22 lr mags work with my Colt unit, too.
