Hi everyone, just wondering about the MAS 49/56, are they in Canada? Are they allowed? I can find the 36 but I'm not interested in them. The semi auto version is a neat rifle that I'd love to own. Anyone out there know of their legal status in Canada, I can't any info online anywhere. Thanks for any useful info!
 
We have imported several of these from the US to Canada for customers. They are for sale frequently on Gunbroker.

I know where they are for sale down south but I just never saw them up here. I'll probably be getting a hold of you soon for bringing one in Steve. I left you a couple emails recently regarding rifle parts I need imported but I haven't seen a reply yet.
 
Ya Century imported a bunch and I read it was hit&miss regarding quality. Could need some extra chamber polishing, chamber pressure spikes due to slightly shorter gas system etc...
 
Much cheaper in the US, slow sellers from what I have seen ,but here, they pull a big premium, go figure. Supply and Demand I guess ! I am still looking for a nice shooter MAS49/56 one day.
 
What kind of "big premium"/"high prices" are we talking about?
Anybody care to toss a valuation out?

What about the previous model - the MAS 1949 - worth more or less than a 49/56?
 
Mas 49/56 was quite pricey even during the heyday of cheap milsurp 90's. Not very many were imported into Canada is likely the reason.
 
I watch US auctions (very nice condition shooter rifles )where they have asked a range of $450.00 to $600.00 and they get relisted time after time until they finally sell. Here, any condition at all and I see them listed for over $1000. Which means sadly I will never buy one, no where near valued at that for me, but for some it might be ok. All depends how desperate and or how much money in your pockets.
 
Ah but the once dirt cheap and abundance LE are now selling north of $500. Who would have thought this is possible only a few years ago. And let's not even talk about M1 Garand. So there you have it in a nut shell with milsurp. Pricey today. Pricier tomorrow in Canada unless it is a crappy Norc.

In the US they run anywhere from 400 to over 1000.00, but by the time you pay exchange,shipping taxes, mag pinning fees and import fees they are right up to Cdn prices or more, so they are NOT cheaper in the US
Rifles with scopes and accessories can be anywhere between 2500-3000 here in Canada ( One sold up here the first of the year with 2 scopes and all of the accessories for somewhere around 4K )
I just purchased a complete almost new APEX scope/case out of France and by the time it got here, it was 1300.00

If that is the same rifle I think it is, the Seller paid between 1500 and 1800 USD for that rifle and sold it up here for 4K...
