So just like many of you, I have recently heard a lot of rumors regarding Alliant powders. Everything from that they have a military contract and are not producing powder for consumers, to no shipments coming to Canada, till US orders are filled.
Does anyone actually have some good news or a better story than these rumors?

Thanks

This from the Company as posted in January:

Dear Valued Customer,

As you are aware, the unprecedented demand for commercial ammunition has exceeded the industry’s
ability to service the marketplace in the near term and has resulted in an industry‐wide shortage at most
retail outlets. With more than 2,000 dedicated employees working diligently around the clock, we
continue to take appropriate action across our manufacturing enterprise to increase and align
production capacity in response to this demand and, ultimately, service your needs – this is our first
priority!
Despite our consistent and dedicated efforts, there remains much speculation and misinformation
regarding the availability of commercial ammunition. In one example, there are a vocal few who believe
that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is buying excessive quantities of ammunition thereby
restricting availability to the commercial market. Simply stated, this is a false and baseless claim. In fact,
we do supply the DHS with a small percentage of ammunition in select calibers consistent with our
contractual requirements. However, the commercial market receives the vast majority of ammunition
produced to serve the needs of civilian hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts.
As a committed partner to the shooting sports industry, we thank you for your support in dispelling
unfounded rumors relating to the supply and demand of commercial ammunition. We continue to
support the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) in representing the legislative interests of our
industry.
It is our mission to provide top‐quality ammunition and accessories for hunters, sport shooters and to
those who protect our country and neighborhoods. For current information regarding our brands and

No real answers here are there?
Alliant must have shipped some powder to Canada because I found some Re 25 and 17 not that long ago, and bought from an independent retailer. FS

I've talked to some of the staff from Bowmac Gunpar in Sittsville who are a wholesaler of firearms and ammo and they have heard no news of restrictions on shipping to Canada. At the same time Alliant will not give even an ETA on when standing orders will be filled. The only response they can get from Alliant is "we're working on it".

I have read from several credible sources that there was some sort of fire (don't know on what scale) at an Australian powder plant that produces, among others, some Alliant powders (a few types; not all by any stretch). This was over a year ago mind you.

I also read from a guy claiming to work for ATK (no idea on the credibility) that they lost a US military contract so will not be producing several of their powders (all had military designations I didn't recognize; none of their civilian retail names) after some date (I forget but I think it was near the end of 2014).

I talked to Wes at Epp's the other day, and he says he has been told his shipment will not be arriving till the end of May

I believe this only affected their shot gun powders

I was in the San Antonio Tx Bass Pro a few days ago, all they had was 3 lbs of Rl 17, no other powders whatsoever. Somebody was going to be happy to find those I'm sure.

There was a shipment of Alliant powders arrived in Calgary a week to two ago. But ofcourse dollar dropped, demand is high and our local dealers like to gouge people, they were selling a pound of RL17 for $45. I ended up buying couple pounds from a mail order place, it was cheaper even after shipping($29.43 per lb)

I would figuratively kill for a keg of 2400.... I don't even know if it comes in kegs, it's been so long since I've seen it

I just picked up some Alliant powders a couple weeks ago, 2lbs each of r15 and r19 in NW Alberta. They had everything in stock from R15, R17, R19, R22 but within a few days it was gone. I was lucky that I walked in just as they were unpacking a shipment. But like other people are saying the price is high, I paid $50 /lb, which I know is too much. Just helped a couple friends out to make sure we can still go moose hunting for the next couple years! IMR and Hodgdon seem to be available more often now so I would think Alliant would be too. Who knows, see what happens over the next year.

You funny guy,you tell jokes!!

Had my name on a list from a well stocked retailer for RL 33, not a snowballs chance in h e l l .That was January, bought something else.

I knew that was going to be the reply. Here's another good one. I was told that right now no one is issuing an export license to Alliant because State & Commerce Dept's won't decide who issues the license. Is that true? Or possible?
