I posted about a week ago about my win of a Savage Bear Hunter in .300wsm, now it's time for my first question about my new rifle. Is there a kit of some kind available to convert the hinged floorplate magazine to a DBM? It's not that I need the extra capacity but I thought that it would be nice to have more than 2 rounds available.

Thanks for any input folks

I picked up the DBM bottom steel and a magazine used for my .325 WSM off of the exchange here for my model 16 stainless synthetic, it was a direct swap, as long as you get all the bolts with it, the front bolt is a different length from the hinged floor plate. I also picked up the 5 round magazine for northern republic magazine a little while ago, it works well.

Cody C is right on the money. The hinged floor plate and DBM savage (centerfeed) are completely interchangeable. I do believe there is a slight difference with regards to the new or older design bolt release though. In any event going to the OEM DBM will still limit you to the same amount of rounds.

Yeah, not stoked on the two round magazine, the dark eagle (sharp shooter supply) 5 round mag from northern republic is nice, but also a pinch obtrusive, I guess Ill see come this season if I like it or if it pokes me in the kidneys while walking. Kind of a catch 22 with the WSM's short action, low magazine capacity or bulky mag.

Maybe I'll just hang on a bit then. Wait until I give it a whirl this fall. 2 rounds at a time might help with ammo conservation anyway. If I do my part it should only take 1 anyway right.
