I bought A Hi point 45 carbine for 3-gun, from Frontier fire arms. Last year I ran a JUST RIGHT Carbine 9mm and wanted to try a different pistol carbine in 45 this year. I have never shot a Hi Point before so this will be a new experience. The Hi point cant be that bad,..U.S law used them. The U-tube vids seem pretty good. It feels heavy and well made. I'm gonna run this tasco 3x9 scope,..should be good for a 100 yard range. It might do very well...or mabey the guns a piece of 5hit LOL.Will give range and function report when I have one. I like the fact I can run a 9round pistol mag as well.5 shots suck.
Anyone have experience with this Carbine ??

I thought about picking one up. I usually see them between $350-$400, let me know how it works out for you.

I hear they are reliable, but are kind of an 'ugly duckling' due to the price point. Also, the fact that they are Restricted, really kills their sales up here.

Just wait... you bought a Hi Point for 3-Gun? In 45Auto?

I'm not going to bash the Hi Point, I'm sure it's a fun little gun.... But I will think you've made a choice that makes you non-competitive.

You may as well throw rocks at any long range targets.

I have the 9mm version and it is an absolute tank. I have not had any issues with it. The only thing I hate is the trigger. It is really sharp on my sausage fingers, and really starts to annoy me after 50 rounds or so. Other than that it is great, and accurate to boot.

I can hit a 14x14 inch plate at 100 yards with my 1911..I'm sure a carbine would make that shot dope simple, and with the hand cannon in my avatar, I target shoot at 200 yards. Mabey you need a rifle to shoot 100 yards,..I don't, LOL.

Nutfancy thinks the accuracy is fantastic. Don't think there would be any difference in accuracy with irons on any other pistol caliber carbine...

Dude... if you can constantly make hits at 200-300 yards with a Hi Point 45auto you are in a class by yourself.

And remember - just because you "target shoot' at 200 with a pistol don't mean you "target hit" at 200 :) lol

The reason most shooters in 3 gun shoot a 223 rifle is you don't need much thought about bullet drop (shot dope). For the most part once the target is past the 50 yard line just aim and fire - the flat trajectory of the round takes care of the rest!

I may not need a rifle to shoot 100 yards, but when my heart rate is up, the stakes are high and only hits count... I want one :)

You just listed a flaw for any pistol caliber carbine. They are not used for long distances...

Now we can move on with the thread.

Like a moped or the fat girl.
Uglier than sin but great fun.

Reliable as a liberal putting their hand in your wallet.

The only thing that will stop one is running out of ammo and even then it is sturdy enough to club the baby seal over the head with it.

I played with one over the weekend and am getting the urge too.

How does the barrel attach on these? I've considered buying one to re barrel myself
looks like the barrel is fixed to the receiver..one piece ?? pressed in possibly.
Hi point stresses..DO NOT attempt to remove barrel. That's all I know.

I agree, the Sub 2000 is a fun rifle - NR too. If the Hi-Point was NR, it would be more popular.
Isnt that the truth. More than likely go up $700 if Non restricted. Look at the JR Carbine,..I paid $1100 with optics...that was just way to much I felt.

For me, the Hi-point is killed by the fact its restricted, and stuck at 5 rounds. Im sure they are great guns for the money though.
