Potassium nitrate...where to buy???

Followed the link, got to regulations and fees for explosives manufacture. Para 34 states distinctly "not for practical use". So you make your own.... "legally"..... and you only commit an offence when you try it out..... and then they clang you for illegal manufacture, transport AND manufacturing, storage and every other 'fee' in their entire list, plus punitive, plus costs... and you're out on the street without a roof over your head....... and.....

Will someone tell me just exactly why I want to stand up and start screaming "TROLL!" at the top of my lungs?

Let's get on the internet and provoke people and find out ALL we can and then when it looks like no more info is coming, POKE them a bit and see what we can stir up, maybe get somebody to admit that they might have done something.... we get a good Efficiency Report and it's better than handing out speeding tickets all night and....

HOW MANY OF YOU REALISE that there is software available freely, and in use on THIS site, which can identify the internet address (and from that, the physical address) or YOUR computer, along with the operating system and (in my case pretty unusual) browser of your system.... and do it faster than you can think?

Maybe I'm paranoid, but at least I'm paranoid OUT of jail.

Smellie , your hat is too tight, ;)

If I recall correctly, I wasn't WEARING a hat when I wrote that. ;-)

Let's look at a few 'f'rinstances':

Truck-burglary at liquor/grocery store: response time 10 hrs.
Knifepoint robbery at Legion Bingo: response time 3 hrs.
Home invasion at MY home: response time 10 hrs; after I brought them over and showed them, Result: refusal to open file! It never happened! Thank God for Sam Colt!

On the other hand, a Staff Sergeant WAS able to tell me exactly what I said in a private phone call, the previous night! Another time, a friend spent 3 hours in jail for 'looking strange'; lawyers are sorting this one out now. Want some more? Here's a couple:
My LIFE was threatened by one of these guys. My crime? Asking a Cabinet minister for a straight answer at a public meeting.
I have been sworn at, screamed at and SPAT upon. My crime? Possessing a valid seat-belt exemption card.
There are more...

My hat doesn't NEED to be on tight. I live in a town of 3000 people with 18 police officers. With this amount of protection, I don't need to be paranoid..... do I?

If you're having fun with homemade toys... more power to ye!

Enjoy, friend!

Geezus , have you thought about moving ? ;)

Folks

The part of the explosives act that regulates potassium Nitrate is repealed: "Restricted Components Regulations SOR/2008-47 [Repealed, SOR/2013-211, par. 509(b)] - 2014-02-01"

Does that mean we can buy PN again?

Prolly means they rewrote it into something harder to read.

But, one can hope!

I spoke with an amateur pyrotechnian a few years back that told me there was a pretty good chance of being able to go legit and that their hobby may become legal. Who knows, though.

Cheers
Trev

Daily planet (science show) just did a segment on making your own bottle rockets... They omitted alot of detail but did name potassium nitrate. Canadian show, I doubt they would break the law a televise it.

When I was a kid, I just bought what I needed over the counter at the pharmacy. All I ever said is that I needed it for my chemistry set - those days are long gone. Sure was fun making toys when I was young, smoke bombs were fun.

Last time I used any potassium nitrate was in chemistry lab in HS. :D

Potassium nitrate + Magnesium powder + Manganese Dioxide = flash powder

Potassium Perchlorate + <3 micron German Dark Alum = flash powder , was my formula of choice. Once set off 2# at the gun club ,later police rolled by and just waved.....
Just threw away most of my chems , too old to play anymore......;)

hahahaha I was perfecting the recipe for flash/smoke bombs for the rock band I was in at the time. It really woke the class up when I touched it off with a Bunsen burner. LOL
