Well I'm sat here with my new toy, which can't be used as the s&b scope I recently got is fooked. The zoom ring does nothing, it turns but the scope is stuck on 3x magnification.
It was supposed to be a brand new scope, but with a funny 3 way deal it looks like the original owner screwed us.
And to make things worse, I sent the scope to wolverine, only to be told it would be $250 for them to ship it to s&b for warranty work! If I'd known they would charge that I would of saved the $65 shipping to them and sent it straight to Germany.
Even worse, s&b's turnaround time is 16 weeks or more I've heard. So I will miss all summer before it comes back.
I've never known a company charge their international partners so much to ship stuff in for warranty work.
Seriously p***** off.

it's a complicated deal, it came on a rifle (both brand new), the new owner of that rifle immediately sold the scope on to me. he never did anything other than repackage it and send it on to me, so it was likely broken when he received it. i trust him completely, but really he would have to chase it up with the original seller, who is not the easiest person to deal with.
thing is, it requires opening up, which can only be done in germany. so i don't think usa will help, they will just be another middle man. its disappointing that wolverine insisted it be sent to them, when in reality they can't do anything other than send it to germany, which i could of done myself and not had to pay for even more shipping.

That sounds weird, I mean it's just a bloody scope. So are you going to put it away for the summer? Then when you get the S&B back go all arctic warfare while snowshoeing?
It's not just a scope. It's a $3000 scope. That I can't really justify buying another one while this one gets fixed. So I have no scope at all suitable for this purpose. So I can't do much else other than admire a nice paperweight for the summer.
The first person in this 3 way deal ism likely to want to help. And I'm sure will deny all knowledge of the defect. And I really doubt he will be interested in buying it back.
This contradicts my conversation with an S&B rep at SHOT. Whatever, sounds like its too late anyway.
It's not too late. I'm getting it back from wolverine tomorrow. I was under the impression s&b USA don't open up scopes. I spoke to someone about it last week and he said they simply send them back to Germany as well.
Maybe you know different?
But if I did goto USA, is it going to be a pain when it gets shipped back to me?

I assumed that the whole barrel tenon threads would be a split-loc design, it's only a portion of the middle, this makes way more sense then how I though they did it.
Thought it was pretty neat that they even have a ball detent stystem to keep the allen key retained in the butt stock. Just goes to show the attention to detail that AI puts into their rifles.
Also the fit and finish of the rifle is outstanding, much better than some of the AI's that I have seen in the last few years. Even all the skins line up perfect and flush everywhere. I can't find a flaw in the rifle.
