I was thinking of making gun socks from old flannel sheets to cut down on safe damage. Would this create any moisture problems? Aka surface rust from storing in a case.

Another good way to reduce safe kisses that another poster on here turned me on to is getting some of that chrome car door edging from Canadian Tire or wherever you can find it and running it along the inside edges of the safe door. Takes the bite out of it.

I have golden rods in my two safes. One safe stores rifles horizontally on racks .. and to minimize dings I use an old wool blanket and so far I have had no issues. I dont think the material you use will make any difference .. if you have moisture in the safe .. you will have corrosion. I bought three golden rods about 15 years ago (keeping one as a spare- just in case) so far haven't had to use the spare...I am a big fan of these devices!!

Regardless of which sock you use I also value the use of the Golden rod heater. Warm cloth won't hold any moisture. And warm metal won't let moisture condense on the surface. So warm wins every way you look at it.

If you're using socks of any sort be sure you let the gun warm up fully before putting the sock on and returning it to the safe. Obviously you only need to do this during times when it's cold and wet outside compared to inside.

Buy a bigger safe. Then space guns out with better cradles. Then buy more guns. Then buy a bigger safe. Then..... Oh wait. Now I get why this doesn't work for me....
