AAC action gritty

I have a Remington 700 AAC-SD that I took out for the first 70 shots today. Rifle performed as expected and I did not have any issues.

The action however was fairly gritty feeling, with some points having to labour slightly to open the bolt. Nothing major, but slightly annoying. Seemed easier as the day went on.

Is there something I can do to either polish, or whatnot to smooth things out a bit? Not interested in shipping the rifle off, or having an expensive coating put on at this time.

Thanks!

Cycle the bolt repeatedly, then give it a good cleaning. The points of contact will wear down slightly and the ease of handling should increase.

Clean it. Repeatedly cycling the action just adds wear. However, a phosphate finish(Remington doesn't say what it actually is though) can feel gritty by itself. Oil it.

Agreed it's just the finish most likely. There are some parts now that are "smooth" i.e.) the finish is wearing down to a sheen.

I'll keep shooting and cleaning then.

Clean the bolt reccess, grease the back of the bolt lugs and the primary extractor point. Lots of Remington owners either don't do this or don't know that they should do this.
