Remington 700 PCR SB Shorty

I'm curious as to how many were shipped to stores by Gravel?

I don't think many - I Run Guns brought in a couple under the CP (pistol version) in the US, that with a non folding stock were canada legal. Went fast. I'm not sure if any were released in canada before Remington filed.

I passed on a spike blacktail buck yesterday morning was rewarded for it by this guy poking his head out at appr 140 yards at 9am in heavy rain this morning I was just below the snow line.

Yes the Rem 700 PCR short rifle in 308 Win loaded with Win 150gr Power Points this time did its job again.

It's now time to get my act together and start reloading for this short rifle going to go with 150gr SST's and IMR3031 powder hoping to get 2500fps and coyote season is on so will need some 110gr V-Max loads for coyotes.

Yes I like this rifle it is super cool and accurate enough for my needs I can hunt with it but also set it up for a super fast handling camp gun I can shoot from 110gr - 200gr bullets in it.

Due to a major hearing loss when I was a child and subsequent aditional loss over my 61 years of being exposed to loud noises I never shoot a firearm without hearing protection on.

In cooler weather I wear electronic ear muffs warmer weather I wear Magnum Ear electronic molded hearing aids only need one due to a total hearing loss in my left ear.

Apples to apples, 125gr vs 150gr in 12.5" 308

125gr, avg speed of top six fastest powders = 2695 fps

150gr, avg speed of top six = 2495 fps

125gr BC .327 (Bryan Litz), 150gr BC .397 (Litz)

When both sighted in +2" high at 100y :

200y
125gr - 2202 fps, 1346 ft lbs, Point of impact = 0.0"
150gr - 2103 fps, 1472 ft lbs, POI = -0.7" low

300y
125gr - 1977 fps, 1085 ft lbs, POI = -9.0" low
150gr - 1921 fps, 1229 ft lbs, POI = -11.1" low

400y
125gr - 1767 fps, 866 ft lbs, POI = -26.7" low
150gr - 1750 fps, 1000 ft lbs, POI = -30.7" low

How big's your new gun? About as big as a squash.

Have ANY of the many pre-orders on this arrived at any dealer?
If not, this is the most ridiculous one to date.

I'm understanding what guns made it to Canada are now all sold and there will be no more shipments of them until Remington works out their receivership issues.

interesting.

So, for either the 223 or the 308, the loss in velocity is negligible if you were to hunt with this?

Well it's not your average pre order, considering outbound shipments got halted as the manufacturer got broken up and sold to multiple other companies.

For the guys wanting some . Wouldn't it be easy enough to buy a action of your choice, chassis and just rebarrel it to get the same thing instead of witing. Or am I missing something here? There are plenty of great sponsors here that the parts would be easy and reasonable to come by.

I haven't reloaded for my 308 Win yet but from everything I've read I should be doing 2400fps with factory 150gr and max 2500fps with 150gr reloads.

I have also checked into 125gr loads I should be getting max 2700fps with these.

Is it just getting a barrel cut down and bolting it into a chassis? Are there any technical or legal issues that one should be aware of?

Barrel can't be cut down to less than 18". But you can get a new one made as long as the overall length is greater than 26" when collapsed.
