Remington 783 vs Savage Axis

The Marlin x7 which Remington basically copied after they bought them is a nicer gun than the 783.

Ata turqua in walnut (stevens 334) is cheaper and light years better than both.
ATA version has iron sights and fully adjustable trigger.

Can't speak for the Savage but my Pre bankruptcy 783 in .308 is shockingly accurate. Great trigger and lightweight. Mine only has about 60 rounds through it but with 150g Winchester Powermax, she will stack up 2 consecutive rounds a thumb width apart at 100 yards if I do my part. For 450$ (back then) with a scope, it was a phenomenal deal. Would buy again given the opportunity. My buddy's 783 in 30-06 is the same.

I can't compare the 783 with the Axis, but I have a very accurate Savage model 11 in 243 and a very accurate 223 Vanguard and I'm very happy with both of them but my son's pre bankruptcy 783 laminate 26" HB in 22-250 is consistently more accurate than either of them whether it's shooting factory for the brass or with handloads it doesn't seem to matter it shoots everything very well. It's too bad they don't seem to be producing a 783 with a 26" barrel anymore but I know you don't need that extra length to get great accuracy

It's not the size of your barrel or the length, it's how you use it. Or the fire of the attack!......:)

ATA Turqua rifles will be the new Tikka of Canada!

Smooth actions, built like a tank, great fit & finish, not expensive.

I endorse this ad. Just kidding, but Turqua Firearms kick @ss!......:)

Judging by all the reviews I've looked at, turqua may be a better bang for the buck than tikka. I haven't looked at one in person yet, but to say they are superior to tikka is a serious statement

Serious and true.

Become a believer and buy a Turqua!......:)

I've got a 783 that shoots so tight, I'm not expecting the JC barrel that's being chambered at the moment to out shoot it.

The bad, same bull#### as Savage, extraction is inconsistent.

As far as the 783 vs Axis. The axis 2 is the better rifle. I dropped mine in a boyds stock and it's the best shooting savage I have now.

783 is more equivalent to a Savage Model 12 target action when you look at it, with only a loading port cut out, much more rigid than an Axis.. 783 all the way. Axis is fine for a cheap hunting hunting rifle, but not equal to a 783.

Axis is not an open top receiver either...

From my experience the 783 has a smoother action and better trigger than the Axis. The 783 plastic stock has more flex than the Axis. The Axis and 783 both have chassis and barrel options.
