MSAR Clear AR mags in stock

Order placed on December 24, order number 10226. Hoping for some free ones!

But they haven't made mags since though have they? I want to know if this is old stock, part of the dead stock that is being sold off. I don't think MSAR has made any new AR mags since the last debacle, but I want to check before I buy.

I seem MSAR is under new ownership as of this summer... hopefully this is newly produced stuff, going to order a bunch. Pretty much the only game in town right now.

From my 6 mags (5 amber, 1 black)...the 5 amber are 7/09 and the black is 4/09. My black one does not drop free but all the amber do. I use the amber for 300BLK and all function fine (though the first round out of the mag is stiff...don't ride the bolt...let 'er fly!). As well, the black functions fine also...just doesn't drop free as previously said. They all lock back the bolt when empty. I have seen the issues as mentioned on the other forum but you'll also notice that a bunch of guys were posting that they had no issues at all.

Okay so they are likely old stock/dead stock then. I always let the bolt fly, I assumed that is what you are supposed to do :) I am going to grab a bunch of the amber. I'm not sure if I like how they look or not, but the wife said they were cool, and I am putting together a couple of pink AR's for her. I spoke with Zombies/Dlask, and they said they you can return/replace any that have issues, but that they haven't seen any issues with the amber ones. With the other colours, some issues have shown up.

As I said before, this seems to be the only game in town right now, unless you want million dollar PMAGS off the EE (I jest, but just wait a few weeks, and it might be truth).

Here's my rifle with my 6th MSAR magazine.

I bought a couple of the Thermold mags for a comparison - these are nicer.

I've dealt with them a couple of times and had great service. Thanks Dlask!

My turn.
Thanks Joe!
I wanted mostly black ones, but I actually prefer the amber.
They sound harder, and fit just a little beter. (looser)
They don't drop free, but fit snug, so a postive tug is needed.
The base fits the hand well, and provides a good purchase.
Liking them.

I was wondering a few things.
First are there any left in stock? (Black/OD/amber).
What hours can I get a hold of you guys by phone.
Is the deal of buy 5 get one free still on, and if we buy 5 are they still priced at $19.50.
And does anyone have any data points on the reliability of these magazines in ar-15/tavor/xcr firearms?

I don't like a few of the things I am reading about these mags.

I dislike that some of them drop free, while others do not.

I also dislike the number of problems people seem to be reporting with stiff first rounds on them

Seems like inconsistant manufacturing or multiple batches.

I will hold off until I get some more reviews of these guys.

The DAR lower I show has a tight magwell. I haven't tried them in other guns yet. They may fall free from others.
Havent tried snap caps in yet. I will let you know.

The date codes of the mags place them as old/dead stock from the old incarnation of MSAR. So they will exhibit the same problems in the link I posted. I don't think the new MSAR is making mags, if so, hopefully they are using newer/better molds. The drop free issue was the biggest problem with these mags, due to molding problems. Again it was hit or miss. I called Dlask, and the lady I spoke with indicated that they have had "some" problems with the coloured mags, but that the clear/amber ones are "mostly" okay... they also assured me that they will refund or exchange any problem mags.

I have to use quite a bit of force to even get them seated in my AR properly, let alone dropping free. At first i didn't even think they were going to fit, I was pressing so hard :s

Sounds like the rivet is too tight, not allowing the usual 5.5 cartridges, but somthing less.

Well the mags are hard to seat in the gun when they are empty. I would imagine if the 5 rounds were jammed in the mag it would be even harder to seat in the gun.

That is bad news.

For all I know, it could just be a bad batch.

From the evidence I have heard so far, it is just another manufacterer making middle qualitty mags of various final qualities, but comparing them to the industry standard. And this is just from the handful for responses on this thread alone.

Not looking good.
