“Best” Ammo for Tikka T3x CTR - Target Shooting

Hey guys, new to the civilian 308 world and was wondering if you could help me save some money by sharing your experiences with various 308 ammo for my Tikka T3x CTR.

I know sometimes it’s trial and errors to find which ammo a fiream likes best, but if someone has had great results with theirs and a particular brand of ammo / grain I would very much appreciate it.

Primary purpose is target shooting up to 500 meters (hopefully;)
Budget is a factor but looking for consistency as well.

Many thanks

Tradex has hirtenberger crates of 7.62x51 that groups pretty decent for surplus. I run it thru my T3x varmint and it groups well when I do my part. I've only shot out to 200m though, so past that I wouldn't know how well it works

My CTR runs the Hirtenberger Austrian surplus, both 1975 and 1980, consistently at 500m if I do my part.

Out to 700m it starts to get flighty, but I think its more to do with bullet weight than anything else.

I had good luck with Scenar 180gr out to 700m, but I didn't have enough rounds to make it a full day. I just use the surplus.

3 shots at 500m at The Longest Mile last fall. Surplus ammo. I don't shoot groups per say, I'm just satisfied if I hear the ding.
