“JW-25a” from Tenda (nearly all was wrong there!-now corrected) and its review

Got one yesterday and shot 100 rounds through it today at the range. It seems solid and shoots well. Only two small issues:
1. The rear sight leaf can move left-right about a millimeter, so I’ll have to fix that so it’s straight, and
2. The mag sits maybe .5 millimeter low, and it fails to feed sometimes because of that, or into the breech. If I hold my hand under the mag it has zero issues.

I love the idea of a .22lr K98, so I’ll fix these little issues myself and have fun with this thing. I definitely can’t afford the real thing, and this scratches that milsurp itch.
Congrats! You'll not regret the purchase! The longer I have this rifle, the more I like it. It is really solidly built.
The rear sight leaf on my rifle is pretty stiff. No movement at all. The 5rd steel mags are generally crappy. Like I mentioned earlier, I bought two plastic 5rd mags for CZ452/455/457 from Doctor Deals when they were on sale for $27.99. Unfortunately, they are sold out. It's now 100% feeding improvement from these mags. Some other vendors still have them but they are a bit more expensive (e.g. Tillsonburg Gun Shop). I highly recommend them.

Yeah, the stock is beautifully finished and the bluing on the barrel and stock accessories is nice and dark. I found the front sight hood a bit thin but no big deal, it’s not going to war with me! I like how sturdy and smooth the spring is in the metal supplied mag, but I might try a few CZs from a friend to see if it improves.

are you actually kidding me. i tried to track one of these long version of the jw25 rifle down for years and i finally get free of the BS and leave the country and they get imported again. now i live in the usa and cant get norinco guns LOL irony...... ffs. this is a really old version of this gun before the short models were made its nice to see they havent given up on the jw25 design tho i was told years ago they stopped producing them and would not do it again. this is by far my favorite rimfire rifle ever in all variations

Correct me if I'm wrong but you can buy a non-restricted firearm, like a JW25, in Canada if you still have a valid PAL and then ship it to the States. In converting to USD that would be pretty inexpensive for you. The quality of the new (2024) batch of the JW25 is much above average. Like I said before just nicely blued steel and wood.

Ya Tendas picture is showing a 98 mauser copy in 22lr and the underneath picture shows the mini mauser, both completely different guns, they advertised a mini and showed a military copy, very different animal

norinco guns are banned from import into the us. but ill end up getting one anyway and have it stashed up there with my other jw25s for when i visit gives me something to do

I just had a look at the Tenda's website and hooray, hooray, they corrected all the previous incorrect dimensions for their Norinco JW-25a K98k replica! I'm still not sure if the word "Mini" should be in the title, unless that word refers to a 22LR rimfire caliber. Otherwise, this is a full size K98k replica.

When you take your bolt apart you will see that the firing pin when at the furthest forward position doesn’t protrude past the bolt face, meaning it doesn’t contact the breech either. I’ve been dry-firing mine and so far no issues at all, no peening or contact at all on the breech. Everyone should inspect their own as tolerances are different with every rifle. Dunno if it was designed this way or maybe the CZ/Brno was the same way.

Interesting observation. I've not disassembled the bolt yet. For dry firing I either use a spent cartridge case or a plastic screw anchor for a drywall. Honestly, I've never owned a CZ rimfire rifle so, I have no idea how the CZ bolts are designed. The bolt for the JW25a is a bit crappily machined. Mine is still quite rough after about 500 rounds and so many dry runs.
