Yeah. That’s why I left names out of it.

Definitely the way of the road.

After 10 years or so on CGN it’s my first bad experience. Just feeling a bit burnt is all
 
People are flakes, and it's no exception here, and it seems backing out on a deal is a lot more common than it used to be. That said, I also find it weird for you to have a wtb ad, yet you had no money to complete the deal.
 
I must admit that if I responded to a WTB ad with the desired article in hand, ready to sell...and the guy who posted the WTB ad then said to me "Okay, I just need to sell my scope to raise the money"...I would just politely tell him to contact me when he was actually ready to buy, and if the item hadn't sold by that time, then we could talk.

I think it was wrong for you to offer to buy before you were ready, and the other guy made a mistake by agreeing to that idea.
 
I read another member's fine print at the bottom of his ee ad once saying; if you agree to purchase this item and then back out of the deal it will result in negative feedback.

I thought it was a fair contingency. Keep the flakes at bay. Not a directly applicable to your situation but the wording could be reworked for future deals. You'll find another scope, don't let it eat at you. F that guy and move on.

OP, there may be more than one way to look at the situation.

You placed a WTB ad, were you up front in your ad about having to sell something before you could afford to pay for it????

The buyer contacted you, likely thinking you had the cash available for an emt, and was informed about your financial situation.

I've been there and done that. I write it off as soon as I see it.

It sounds to me, from your post, that the seller had no idea how long he was going to have to wait for his funds, so he wrote it off and quite likely sold the scope to someone else, who had cash in hand.

I would have done the same thing.

You have no idea how many people play that game, and it sucks.

I would say you deserve the "negative" feedback.

Sorry. It was an offer to trade add. But I said in the add I would want to but as well.

sorry. It was an offer to trade add where I mentioned that I would be willing to buy as well. But you are correct, I would word it differently next time for sure

I said it wrong. He replied to a offer to trade add, where i wanted to trade for a similar scope in MIL, I had MOA. In that add I said I would be also interested in buying. and I agree, that was wrong. I should have made it explicitly clear, I had to sell my scope first.
NON the less, the deal was agreed upon. I had cash, gave him my address. THEN he backed out. So my misstep is irrelevant. The deal was done

Don't be salty. No one did anything "wrong" here. You just didn't like how it happened. Maybe don't have to sell one thing to get one thing situation and you won't have to deal with something like this

It doesn't really matter what you think, or if someone states a negative feedback will be given within their EE ad. There are rules here for leaving a neg, and backing out is not one of them. I get annoyed by flakes as much as the next guy, but if money didn't change hands, (the make or break point of the official start point for the rest of a deal) the deal hasn't been made.

I see all of this now. As mentioned I regret posting this thread. Was just super frustrated
