Anyone know where I can get some 0.455 Dominion brass? I've got a friend who's got an old NWMP New Service revolver and one case.

He shoots Webley Mk.II in it but the Dominion ammo is more correct and the case lengths are different (19mm for the Webley and 22mm for the Dominion).

Dominion brass(or ammo) hasn't been made since the late 60's. Dominion Cartridge Co. is the maker, not the name of the cartridge. The Dominion Cartridge Co. is long gone. Boxes of it are collectors items and are worth a pile of money. So is your buddy's revolver.
Any .455 Colt is the right ammo for a New Service. It's the same cartridge as a .455 Webley Mk I.

The short ones are avail. for $29/100 and the longer ones are $59/100 from Buffalo Arms, the "go to" place for old ammo/reloading needs. It's usually the only place that has what i require!

I was aware that the Dominion ammo was the make, not the name of the cartridge.

Can I get this straight, the Dominion 0.455 were loaded in Mk.I form with longer brass?

My mate's got an empty box and only one case. He says it is 22mm long where the Mk.I should be 0.82" (20.8mm) and the Mk.II 0.755" (19.2mm).

Is it possible he's simply mis-measured? It would make sense if Mk.I is what he's looking for.

He'd like some Dominion stamped cartridges so he'd have a period correct box and cartridges but I'll let him know about the Buffalo Arms Mk.I cases.

Sorry, he also mentioned that he's got some trimmed down Colt cases that won't extract for some reason. I think he said that the rim is different.

Is 455 Colt the same as Webley apart from case length?

DCCO(Dominion) made 455 cases with both case lengths. The short case was stamped 455 and the long case 455 COLT. Both length cases have been recovered from RNWMP sites.

Guys,

I've just had a talk with my friend. He's already tried some of the Mk.I cases from Buffalo arms and they're modifed 45 Long Colt cases. He said that because the rim is smaller, they won't extract reliably from the 455 revolver.

I guess this is why he's been looking for old Dominion cases.

He's already got 500 of the Mk.II cases (Hornady) and really likes them. It's just that he'd like to have a few of the longer ones.
