Hi All,

Some of you may have read my recent post that I recently inherited my father's 1903a3 U.S. Remington. Anyway the rifle is in decent shape from what I can tell but it is missing some accessories. Basically I would like to try to, slowly as my funds are currently limited, get as many of the accessories that may have been issued to the average G.I. with this rifle. So far I know I am missing:

- the Bayonet
- the Cleaning kit that was stored in the stock
- the sling
- Any other cleaning accessories that may have been with it
- A couple stripper clips
- A copy of the manual that would have come with the rifle

Basically I have JUST started researching what this rifle would have had with it and I am hoping some of you might have suggestions about any of the following:

- What else I might be missing (I know that is hard without pictures but I am currently only with my cell phone camera and I might as well use a potato to take pictures of it) but if anyone can think of any accessories that are commonly missing with this rifles I would appreciate a note.
- Where I can find information about the items I listed above since I know I need to eventually replace those.
- Where I can find these items either online or if anyone in Calgary, Alberta might carry them. I know there are a few milsurp places in the city that I haven't checked out lately.

Thanks again! This is as much of a learning exercise as anything so bear with me if I sound rather noobish asking about this.

Turner Saddlery makes a nice 1907 pattern sling. The "seconds" ones are cheaper and it's often hard to tell why. The also ship to Canada without gouging you. Amherst Depot in Florida can supply stripper clips and cleaning kits also without screwing you on shipping.

You have pretty much ID'd the accessories for the 03-A3. Either the 16 or 10 inch bayonets would be suitable. Either a leather M1907 sling or a web M1 sling would work. There was normally a snap-on metal front sight protector issued. The cleaning kit would include either the plastic or metal case as well as a cord pull-thru and bore brush. One end of the case was an oil bottle. the other end held the pull-thru and brush. All of these things are available on ebay or from Numrich.

The proper bayonet for the M1903A3 would be either the M1905 (16 inch blade) or the M1905E1 (cut to 10 inch blade) or the M1. Scabbard for the M1905 should be the M3 plastic type. Original bayonet are getting hard to find here in the U. S. A. and are in the $150 to $250 range when found. Reproduction made in China are available and they will pass the 20 feet test.

Cleaning kit would consist of the nickel plated brass Case, oiler and thong with Thong (consisting of a weight, tip and cord) and Brush, thong, caliber .30

It called a SLING NOT a shoulder strap. Either the leather M1905 or web M1 sling will work.

How many stripper clips would you like?

Google TM 9-1270, FM 23-10, and SNL B-3 for manuals.

The "clip" closest to the muzzle is the STACKING SWIVEL. It is use to stack arms. The other two are the SLING SWIVELS.

Google is your friend.

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate all the input and now have a few things to look up. I realize a lot of this is on google but it was nice to have a bit of a head start as to where to look/what to look for.

Thanks again.
