What factory ammunition group well in your Tikka T3X. Mine is in 30-06 and i get the best group out of Barnes TTSX 168. I wanted to use nosler partition but it fly every where 2-3 inch at 100y. Barnes TTSX is 60$ a box i don’t really want to pay that much. I tried precision hunter eld-x 178 group ok but less tighter than the Barnes.

Forgot to mention its for moose hunting.

Thanks

Always had good luck with Winchester Ballistic Silvertips when using factory ammo..180gr would have no issues on moose

I can understand the desire to experiment but if you know the TTSX load shoots you can always fall back to it. Odds are you will spend the better part of $60 at least trying to find a load that may or may not shoot better. Remington Corelockts, Federal Bluebox, Hornady Interlocks and Winchester Power Points continue to kill moose. The long standing wisdom with cup and core bullets for moose was to go heavy for caliber, it still hold true. Grab a box of any 180 grain hunting ammo that meets your cost parameters and give it a try. $60 isn't really that significant of a cost for the occasional moose hunt. A cheaper load can be used for softer critters and paper.

Tikka T3 here and mine just loves the Federal Fusions. Accurate as all get out, and seem to put down deer every season. Haven't tried them on moose but certainly wouldn't hesitate to try them.

Why fix what ain’t broke, stick with the Barnes TTSX,it’s an excellent choice for moose.
I’ve been shooting the very similar Superformance GMX 165 in my oddsix for last few seasons,1/2 dozen deer,a bear and elk no complaints, none needed a 2nd shot.
Just bought me a new .300WSM and 2 boxes of TTSX 165,here’s hoping it likes them.No moose draw for me this year but planning to use them on elk and deer, wouldn’t think twice about using that ammo for moose also presuming the rifle likes it of course, gonna get some range time in this week.

My old tikka was a t-3 not the t-3x but it liked 180gr hornady “custom” ammo. It was loaded with their interlock bullet. It
shot around MOA and was reasonably priced (8 years ago since I bought any)

My t3 30-06 I use federal 180 grain nosler partitions although not the tightest groups 1.5-2. I use to to be picky on my groups when I first started hunting trying different factory ammo can get expensive I’ve spent hundreds and hundreds on various boxes after boxes. After shooting a handful or 2 of moose all under 100 yards I realized I don’t need to strive for that pin point long range accuracy I’ve read that I needed, I just learned to be a better hunter calling works wonders :)
