it has gone up recentley again. if wholesale sports in AB could bring it in, their american eagle 115 grain ruger ammo is now 13.99/50, was 11.99/50, i still have some left and have not had issue with it, its cheap for "new" ammo. some winchester boxes of 100 were 35.99. reloads last time i checked was $200 for 1000, but that was a while ago. recentley checked into purchasing some "new" stuff for $300 for 1000, 115 grain. not a screaming deal, but not the worst out there. i noticed some of the places a guy could get it cheap are marking it up to what they are selling the new stuff, just cause they can make a few bucks more....:bsFlag:

is this going to be just the way it is? .30c a shot for new?

and another thing my brother was trying to find me wholesale ammo, knows a guy who knows a guy or somthing, hard to get info but my bro keeps saying hes selling army ammunition? really? that can`t be a brand name is it? make no sense....must have a manufacturer. :bsFlag:

Here in western part of Quebec province it is 17.99 $ for AE 127gr. I can have it down too 350 tx incl. for a case (yes I know , a 9 $ reduction !)I have 2 cases of 1000 fired already this summer.

You guys out west , have it good. Compared to us .

I haven't done the break down lately (I haven't needed any supplies) but I think it costs me about $130-$140 to reload a thousand. At $24 for 50 that's $480/1000, at $14 / 50 it's $280 / 1000. Sure, no point in reloading there.

well i guess i can`t complain too much about $13-$15/50rds. i have been keeping some shells, so i may have to pickup a die and borrow my dads reloading equiptment sometime, see how that goes.... hate to complain too much ;)

And that's why I've been shooting .22LR almost exclusively for the past two months. 15$ for 50 rounds is f*cking highway robbery. There's no way anybody can participate in any kind of sport shooting without either being

- sponsored
- spoiled rich
- reloading (which incurs its own costs, albeit only once in a significant manner)

It's a really nice sport/hobby... but if I was to pick up something like Billiards, I'd only pay my table and stick once for a grand total of 2500$, maybe less. Hell, even building a nice gaming computer costs nowhere near what our firearms/equipment/ammunition does.

It's horrible. And this is coming from a guy who makes a government CS1's salary, so I'm not exactly having financial problems.

Yeah price in BC that I've seen is around 16 a box for 50 rounds.

I picked up a few hundred down in Wa this weekend for a friend of mine because we went out camping there.
8.50 a box of 50 there made me so sad.

Wish the US laws let me take it home.
Oh well, time to start reloading soon.

and they say there's no point to reloading 9mm....tsk, tsk, tsk

Who the heck said that?! Despite what the thread author says, the last time I was at Wholesale in Edmonton, the cheapest 9mm they had was winchester at 17.50$/50rds. My reloads come out to less than half that. Shoot thousands of rounds practicing for competitions that have you shooting 300+ rounds and the reload savings really add up.

I mold lead heads and reload 9mm. Cost per 1,000:
- Primer $40
- Powder 1 lb. $30
- Brass $25
- 35 lbs. lead $35
- liquid lube $10

Reloading cost/1k = $140

Factory ammo retail (WEST) = $16/50rnds or $320/1k

Savings = $180/1k

My 9mm reload count this year is up to 4,000 rds. The 2009 savings compared to factory ammo totals $720. Thats equivalent to shooting 2,000+ factory rds. for FREE!!!! Or in my case, enough to purchase material to reload another 5,000 rds. Also churn out .45ACP and .40 which further increases savings.

My RCBS dies and single stage Rock Chucker have paid for themselves ten-times over and they've been with me for over 2 decades. Am shooting so much more nowadays, the dream is to get a Dillon 550B progressive.

Is reloading worth it? For me it certainly is!!!!!!:canadaFlag::cheers::50cal:

Over the past few years lots of people have told me that reloading 9mm wasn't worthwhile. Mind you, no one has said this to me in the past 6 months even though powder, primer and bullets have gone up as well...

I've purchased my reloading components within the past few months and using the Handloading Cost Calculator I'm roughly at $177.50 /1000 or $8.88 /50.

Yes, look into reloading, my 9mm reloads are ~$15/100rds.
If you shoot a lot, you'll pay for a nice progressive setup in 5-6K rds, which in my case is 6 months or so.

Man, I just paid $175 for 500 115gn Winclean. Original plan was to reload rifle, and maybe .38; but some of the savings are pretty compelling. Time to shop for 9mm dies...
