Riden and I were all geared up for our annual 4 night 5 day moose hunt at our moose campwith Ridens son and our other hunting buddy and were on our way in (about 5 minutes from the truck) and this little fellow showed his face at 152 yards.

My .308 malfunctioned on the spot so used Riden's 270 short with a 140 grain TSX.

One shot in the ribs and the head went down and he took a couple of steps so I hit him again for good measure.

We spent the night at home and went in the next day. I'm looking forward to the steaks.:)

I never use hunt101, but depending on how you did it, I think you just hotlinked to the thumbnails - find a link to the bigger picture if you can.
 
Thats awesome! I'm leaving on friday for Marathon,On to meet the rest of my family/hunt gang cant wait!

It's a relief to know that you took that bull down with a .270 WSM loaded for 140's as my dad brought up his newly aquired Ruger M77 chambered for the same round, only he's using 150 gr. accubonds. Glad to know its up to the task;).

My baby

A BLR in .308

Wouldn't fully close the bolt (chamber a round) when I cycled the lever.

Upon inspection in the bush by the stubborn ass hunter (which was a bad Idea because I lost a part:mad:) I found the outside of the chamber to have excess build up of stuff and the bolt face was dirty as well.

I have learned a valuable lesson about not only cleaning the barrel but the innards as well. No one to blame but myself. I alway clean breech to muzzle but not often enough in the action.

Now I sit patiently waitng for the part and have pulled out ol'faithul (Marlin 336 in dirty 30) as a backup.

Some year I'll learn my lessons the easy way;)

Can of gun scrubber($10) will clean your action in 30 seconds. Then re-lube with CLP Breakfree.

Another tip.

If hunting in -20 Celcius. Use lighter fluid to lubricate action. It will NOT freeze. :mad: Have seen that one happen and you should hear the cursing then...as the Moose walks away...:wave:
