09-10 May Service Rifle Match Connaught, Ottawa

Good luck lads!

We just shot the LFAA SAC last weekend up in Debert (my first time shooting there!) and though I placed first, I wasn't the winner.

Pulled in a 328 on M1-M7, with a non-scoring hit in the 300m rapid as my only "miss".

2nd place was the son of the QM7, and 3rd place was the QM5 at 325, and 323 respectively.

Rainy, almost Bisly-ish weather to start Saturday, with the day staying generally cool, but some sun showing up late in the afternoon.

Good fun!

Good luck to you guys!

NS

I grew up about 10 minutes from that range. Ahhhh, memories........

It was a great shoot, the un-seasonably cool and wet weather made it quite memorable. A well done to all that that helped run it, and it was good to see some new shooters giving it a try. I'm sure they all enjoyed it and will be out again.

Good to see the Barney and Tim show in Ottawa again.

Shelldrake:

Thanks for the kind words... the TimK & Barney show will be brought to you on a more predictable and fun way this season! That's for sure.

Nice to meet all kinds of new faces, especially those with super bling'ed up (Noveske, KAC, LMT, GGG&G, Troy, Larue Tactical, and I cannot forget UTG  ) LOL

Were you making fun of my newbie shooting Hungry? thanks! :)

Thanks to you and Tim for running a smooth competition. It moved along fast enough that we didn't have to be wetter or colder than we had to be (and kept GT's whining about how much work everything was at a minimum), yet the pace gave us new people a chance for the rules to sink in.

Awesome weekend!
:dancingbanana:
hungry,
I don't know how i managed to beat you in that last match, I messed up my Elcan during the run down. i think i did too many clicks, dropped the elevation too early, etc.

While doing the shooting my muzzle was all over the place, I had to take huge breaths and let it out and block it, and try to snap two off before getting back at the running...

I'm gonna start working out again and get to some running too. No way in hell i can keep on going like this. :runaway:

TimK is a great guy, he gave me an Elcan sight tool and a card with facts on how to use the sight, he even gave me some 62gr IVI ammo for the windy 500m shoot and lent me some 5/30rd mags so i could get a more stable hold. Thanks again!

Great company, loads of info, gotta find a pad and write some down,. I really enjoyed the late evening past stories, some people have some funny stories :p

Anyways, I could keep on going but CGN is not my personal diary.

Wooh! I did win a medal!

To Hungry,TimK and all the others that made this match possible

Whats wrong with weapon lights? Hahaha! This was my first rifle competion. I had a blast. I ran a Stag M4 with an Aimpoint M3 for this. Ive put thousands of rounds through this gun but nothing past 200m. I signed up for this a week and a half before the event having never really heard of service rifle competions. Not knowing what to expect, I decided to give it a go and challenge myself and my gear. I'm glad I did. The weather was interesting! I even had to pull my aimpoint for a match because of all the water and run with just the BUIS.

While Im not big on competitions, running in this has changed my mind and I will definately be back out. Thanx to all the organizers, you guys put on a great event. Great early start and didn't stop moving until the end of the day. Always kept busy and I like that. Things moved extremmely well and very well organized. Thanx again guys! Thanx to all the guys that helped us new guys out. Its highly appreciated.

KevH: Glad as hell you liked the fast moving format. I like having more and more weapon lights on the firing mound, slows you guys down during matches 4, 8, and 12 and allows a disabled old fart like me to keep up with the young 'uns! ;)

FPembleton: The "T" stands for Tyro since this is their first YEAR shooting Service Rifle, they get to compete in a class of their own. ;)
