Finger Toes,
The Model 70 Winchester bolt is made in two pieces and has been since 1964. The bolt handle is sleeved on to the rear of the bolt body and silver soldered in place. It's an OK system but I like a one piece better.
The coned breech on a BR single shot vs the one on a Winchester Model 70 is a different animal and probably does help to feed the round into the chamber. I know that it is sometimes a problem with the counterbored 40X. Especially in 222. The guys who try and get their shots off fast like any help they can get.
The coned breech on the M70 is only useful on the one side. The other side has an extractor cut into which the point of the bullet can jam. Been there. Often. Regards, Bill.
