$1,000 modern hunting rife: help me find one

My Ruger gunsite scout cost me $1k before taxes and shipping and that included the scope. The extra magazine and buttstock pouch put it around $1100 and then there was tax and shipping so I'm in for about $1250.00

It's perfect for the rugged hunting I do

Is this what you are looking for? A 30-06, beautiful wood stock, accurate shooter and moderately priced?

It is a Weatherby S2. About $650. With Scope...another $250 or so.

Yeah I like the vanguard a ton gonna go check it out at cabelas again it shouldered great last time. The win 70 is lighter by a bit whichI like

Thanks Kamooka et Al. my other rifles are milsurps I'm thinking modern but I've definitely taken a look, hard to resist.

I got rained on at the range and almost considering synthetic, I liked the sak0 a7 synthetic stock as well as the vanguards, tikkas was gross.

Glad I haven't had time to finish Hunters Ed this might take a while this thread is good stuff :)

My second hand Ruger M77 in .280 Rem with an aftermarket B&C stock cost just a smidge over $1000 with a Zeiss conquest.

Hard to picture anything much more rugged, reliable and anywhere/anything for North America. It shoots superb with handloaded 160 grain Accubonds as well. It's a Mk II, I've found the newer M77s do not have quite as smooth of bolt throw.

i agree with a lot of the above, but IMHO the best bang for buck by a longshot is that Tikka hunter ss combo at WSS...under $1000 for a solid wood stocked stainless tack driver with a middle of the road scope... have one and I am way happy with it - moa right from the box, and after a pillar/skim bed, consistent 3/4" 5 shot groups... only complaint is the limited calibers...
