Howdy,

I am looking at making a load up for my father's 22-250 using 60 grain Partitions. He has a Ruger with a 1/14 twist and the factory Remington ammo with this was keyholing.

He bought a Savage Axis a bit ago and it is supposed to have a 1/12 twist. Has anyone tried this load with this twist? If so how did it work for you?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

From the Sierra Manual for their 60 grain HP:

Accuracy Load: Varget/ 32.8grs. 3300fps/ 1451ft. lbs.
Hunting Load: RE-15/ 33.8grs. 3400fps/ 1540ft. lbs.

I used IMR 4895, 4320 and 4064 with the 60 grain bullet in a 1 in 14 twist with great results. Got similar results with the Hornady and Nosler 60 grain bullets.
When that barrel was near its end, I rebarreled with a 1 in 12 223 barrel and chambered to 22-250 with initial testing appearing to be similar to before.

Nosler book shows 36.5 grains of H380 as their most accurate powder. This would be the mid load as they show 38.5 (high) and 34.5 (low).

Not a expert on the 22-250
with the 1/14 twist and the 60g you will get better accuracy with a slower velocity around /under 3000 fps

so work up 1 load for the 1/14 and one load for the 1/9 and keep them separate
