Where does one go about buying this stuff. I looked in all traditional places and they didn't have them.

Any decent atuomotive store should have them. Check places like : Gregg distributors, Acklands, bumper to bumper... you may not have to pay shipping or have to wait.

1/2 x 28 is not a common size, Brownells sell them and mail order to canada

are you planning on threading an extended 9mm or .40 pistol barrel ?

if so ive been looking into this myself. ( also having a hard time finding them) may have to resort to mail order.

Just a suggestion - attempting to thread a barrel with a die, rather than with a lathe, could be an invitation for a messed up barrel.

you CAN do it but without a center and a pilot your asking for trouble
