Hello

Looking for scope advice for my 12ga/30-06 combination gun. I plan to hunt grouse, deer, bear and moose. I was thinking a 1x4 or 1x6 so I can use the 1 magnification for grouse and the zoom for longer big game shots. I am not super rich so this limits the choice somewhat. Essentially I want a scope that will stand up to the kick of a 12ga and 30-06 and be usable at close range

Any insights and suggestions would be appreciated.

In a search, some of the scopes I have seen so far include:

Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x24 Rifle Scope AR-BDC
Barska 1-4x28 IR
Weaver 849845 Kaspa Dual-X
Bushnell AR Optics 1-4x 24mm

Thanks

do you want to use with the 12ga and rifle barrel? i found it good to be able to use brenneke slugs. can you adjust your barrel?

a redfield 2-7x33 maybe a better option on the budget side.

Yes I will use both the rifle and the shotgun barrels. Yes apparently the barrels can be regulated (adjusted) so the point of impact will be the same for both.

I use a Bushnell Banner 1-4 on a Remington 870 12 Gauge Slugger, and the same scope (same make and magnification) on a 45 70 double rifle. Have not had any problems with the scopes on either gun.

I've used the bushnell trophy 1.75x4 shotgun scope for a similar setup. Works very well. The scope doesn't get too much in the way when using the shotgun, and accurate to any range I shoot to. I liked it better than the more expensive bushnells when I was picking through them.
Never had an issue. Of course, you could pay more and get the nicer Leupold 1-4 already mentioned.

Do you look through the scope when shooting shotgun or do you look under the scope?

The ultimate scope for this application in my opinion would be a Leupold VX-R 1.25-4X...

Noteworthy mention would be Leupold =

VX3 1.5-5X
VX2 1-4X
VX1 1-4X

Agree about the VX-R 1.25-4x
I just picked up one of these with the fire dot duplex reticle off the EE and it is a fantastic scope.
