Ordered a tumbler from Cabela's USA online early last week, it's here already, no muss, no fuss, interestingly it was mailed from Oakville, Ontario. They seem to have a good system for shipping to Canada - tax and importation fee is paid up front (the latter is very reasonable) so no surprises.

Yup....did the same a little while ago. Only cost me $70 shipped for a Lyman 1200 Pro.

I have bought a ton of fishing gear and clothes through them in the last year and had no problems at all, they even shipped 2 Scotty electric downriggers and 2 free rods that came with them all separately for $17.95. And they ony charge $3.50 for brokerage fees, that is cheaper than the post office.

When they will send you stuff they are great but their restrictions drive me insane.

Here are some examples:

A Bushnell spotting scope is restricted. A Leupold isn't.

An SKB soft case is restricted unless it's in camo then it's fine. Boyt's cases are restricted unless they are the more expensive Boundary Lakes models.

Lockblade folding knifes are restricted. Multi-tools are okay. Fixed blades vary.

Cabelas is happy to send a car or boat GPS to Canada. Handhelds are restricted with one exception that I could find.

These are just a few. There are many others.

Who created the restriction list though? Was it Cabella's or our government officials?
From what I can see it's mostly the U.S. government export restrictions plus added restrictions put on by Cabela's. I don't think it has anything to do with our government.
