Time once again to throw down the gaunlet and issue this years 1 MOA Challenge.

I see a lot of people on here claiming to have 1/4 or 1/2 MOA rifles.

Place is Cedar Springs Rifle Range. The range is 300m. Shooting is all done prone under current ORA/DCRA, F/TR Class or F(F)actory rules.

Targets will be DCRA 300m face on a 4ft frame. All shots will be indicated.
Exception to the rule is that single string shooting will be allowed.

The cost of the ORA guest fee is $45/day. On top of the guest fee there will also be a marker beach and sentry fee of about $30.

So here's the deal. You pay the fees for the day. You will have 5 attempts to shoot a 1 MOA, 10 shot group. If you are successful in shooting a 1 MOA group, you get your money back and I pay your fees for the day out of my own pocket.

Here are the date for this years challenge. May 19 (April 29 date change to May 19),June 10, 17, 24. July 7-8 and Sept 1-2.

Are you up for the challenge?

An interesting way to get people to try F class.

It is a HUGE amount of fun so get out there and try it out.

The goal is to shoot a clean score (10 X 5). And if you do, get your entry fee paid for - nice bonus.

Either way, its makes for a great day and you will learn so much about what you and your rifle can do.

Can we put a sticky in this forum with experienced, F-class and other disciplines, CGNers names who are willing to take non experienced fellow CGNers, and show them the ropes? Competing sounds like fun and all but I wouldn't have a clue what to do after parking my vehicle! Having glanced at the rules a few years back, I was more confused about the goings on than when I first heard about a competition with a heavy varmint class.

I'd really like to see a CGN mentorship program. I would really like to spend a day on the range, one on one, with people like Maynard, Cyan1de or Mystic to name a few.

if any shooters want to be on a list I will make it a sticky ,I think this is a great idea

ok Maynard tell us what are rifles need to be set up like to play

my gun is 16.2 lbs with glass no ammo, trigger is at 2.5lbs am I good to go?

Yes, you should be good to go.

No .22's aloud? That is all I have that is accurate to What I claimed for my 300M
shot of a ground hog. My bastard No,4 jungle carbine is not as accurate,go figure!

The range is a DND range and is not templated for magnum calibers. Under F/TR rules only .308 and .223 are allowed but I will stretch it to include .30-06. F/TR is fired off a front bipod and muzzle brakes are not allowed.
Single loading only as per F/TR rules. Trigger weight, must be a safe trigger. ie trigger will not trip the firing pin if the butt of the rifle is bumped on the ground.

Cedar Springs in in SW Ontario. Near the city of Chatham, town of Blenheim and the Village of Cedar Springs. Go to Google maps and type in Water Street, Cedar Spring, ON and it will give you a map. Click on satellite image. There is an un-named road between Charing Cross Road and Highbanks Road. That is the entry to the range.

Jamie,
I would have to look up the rule on rifle weight, but I will bring a scale and hacksaw with me just in case your rifle doesn't make the weight limit.

If you are going to put up a sticky looking for mentorship you can put my name down to introduce new shooters to our program down here at Cedar Springs.

Just found the rifle weight for F/TR. 8.25 Kg or 18 lbs 2.4 oz. with everything attached, bipod scope and bolt in.

how about the 260?

If it is a factory barrel it fits into the F(F)actory class and is under F/TR class here in Ontario. F/TR can be a custom barrel but limited to either .308 or .223.

The point of this exercise is to get new shooters or relatively new shooters that don't compete, out to the range in a relaxed setting. Shooting under a slightly modified course of fire (single string).

For those that come out and win, I pay your daily fees (about $75) and you get all the bragging rights. Maybe I will even learn how to post pictures on CGN and post your picture. Since this is the third year I have put this challenge out here and no one has collecter yet, I will find one of our club plaques and have it engraved as a keepsake trophy for the first winner.
