1 MOA Challenge 2012

I showed up last year and failed to shoot 1moa. But I hit the black everytime and had a great day doing it. Learned a lot. Hey maynard if I send in my payment to the ora this month can I still try with my stevens. I'm getting better! Anyways ill try to make each date to practise with the TR. Thanks for throwing up this challenge again. I hope you get a big turnout

Maynard first thanks for meeting me at your place, that was great. I am hoping my barrels come in time to do this. If not I may show up as an observer. Good on you for your promotion of the sport.

Dino

Have you seen some of the smokepoles these guys are packin'? I might have to take out a second mortgage on the house to cover this challenge
Relax, remember this is the 3rd year of the challenge, and you haven't paid out yet. Once those bipods start digging into the sod, and the wind starts up during the shooting, it's all smiles for you.

Brybenn, even if you are a member and don't have to pay the $45 guest fee, I will pay your marker/sentry fee for the day, if you shoot a 1 MOA angle group with your Stevens.

DinoS, even if you don't have your barrel in time, let me know. I will find something for you to shoot. I am always looking to convert guys to TR with iron sights.

Come on Terry, you know there isn't any wind at Cedar Springs.;)

All, here is a kit list of some things you might want to bring to make your day more enjoyable.
Rifle w/bipod, scope
Ammo, 60-70 rounds
Ear/eye protection
Shooting mat or ground sheet to lay on
Sun screen
Rain gear/umbrella
Bottled water/small cooler
Lawn chair
Lunch, there are a couple fast food places in Blenheim
Any gun smithing tools you may need. I will bring a hammer and hacksaw:p
Any cleaning supplies you think you might need

You will be able to drive down range to load and unload your kit so you don't need to backpack it in. Parking is about 100 yards from the firing point.

Anyone from Peterborough area going (April 29th)? Willing to carpool? Will cover half the gas, and the stops timmies both ways. :D

Maynard- I would love to come though I doubt you will have to cover my bill. I just wanna try the f-class format.

I will just park my Triumph Rocket 3 in your lot, everythings i need will be in my tankbag and my backpack, i will set on either a june or july date, let you know... JP.

Just posted pictures on my other tread, i am working very hard so i can be the first one to succed in you MOA challenge M. Maynard, with the money you will give me back, i will buy beer for the guys... JP.

Forgot to add the CRYING TOWEL :D:shotgun:

If anyone gets a chance, try that TR stuff. It is way different and a hoot. If you think LR shooting is challenging enough, add in the variable that is the shooter.

To all that get out, it will be time so very well spent and in great company.

Jerry

We have 5 X 10 rounds to succed the MOA, will we have practice time before like to shoot 40 or 50 rounds... JP.

Thanks Jerry, I did forget about the crying towel. I am having a new custom shooting jacket made with a built-in crying towel.

Caramel, you get 5 chances to shoot a 1 MOA, 10 shot group. You can either go for it every relay.(that would be my suggestion) Or practice 4 times and go for it once or any combination, to get the results. You will have 2 sighting shots that you may convert to your group and only fire 8 more for a total of 10 shots, but you must declare that after both sighters have been fired.

I am going to do everything in my power to make it to one of these shoots. I have fired many 10 shot groups with my Factory savage F/TR well under 3 inches at 400 meters.
Major Sights, perhaps I may be able to go visit my parents in campbellford , then meet up with you on April 29 really early and split the cost of the drive down with you. PM me if you would be interested.

One question... The Moa challenge mean putting 10 shots in one inch at 300 or it mean putting 10 shots in 3 inch at 300... JP.

And nobody succeded at putting 10 shots in 3.3 inch at Maynard shoot... JP.

I know it does sound easy but, until you actualy lay down with the gun read the conditions drop the 10 shots and not get one out of the V it is chalenging .

We used to shoot a lot of benchrest built a few guns to shoot further out on the bench and between me and a few friends had shot some really nice groups out to 600m.

We then got in to f-class and thought wow the bull is huge one minute but to be honest after doing a few matches it isn't easy to hit all v's for ten shots straight  and it gets harder as the distance increases,

300m isn't that far but it is far enough when you try and put 10shots not 5 into 1 moa :) .
