Hi CGN,

Got an interesting mosin here. It has both TULA and IZHEVSK markings on it, a weird 25 with a triangle and on the butt, a tula star with a 25 on it. There are no refurb markings on it and the stock is an original correct wartime stock.

Hand picked this one because I have not seen one like it before. Perhaps you have and can shed light on this, but I dont think this is common as its the first I have seen. Because it has the original stock, no typical refurb markings, and has both tula and IZH markings was it possible this rifle was made in one factory and assembled in another, or perhaps repaired? Here are some pics:

Thats neither the standard or alternate Tula star, but looks similar. I think the star stamp is something other that a factory marking.

I have a M38 for sale in the EE at the moment that has the same 25 in a triangle stamp, it is a stamp from Late post war repair depot, number 25, they did a lot of the sniper scope rebuilds too as it is more common to see this mark on rebuilt scopes than on rifles, it has been reported in the past on some of the US forums that deal with Mosin collectors. I did not even bother to mention it in my for sale listing as I know it is not a rare stamp and BTW it has nothing to do with Tula.
