Hi guys,

I thought you may be interested in seeing this - here are pictures of my 1 year old (purchased brand new), 3,000 round count GP-100 with a forcing cone that's heavily eroded and cracked in three places.

It shot a mix of 38 SPL and 357 Mag, always 158 gr, always conservative loads.

Have any of you ever seen this?

If so, what are your thoughts?

jeeze.
Timing off maybe?

I had one and the thing ran great for thousands of rounds. Sold it to someone I know and it still runs great.
Not normal for sure.

I sent an e-mail to snapshot in Ste-Martine, QC (they take care of Ruger warranties in Canada) and have yet to hear from them.

It's a bummer because I have a valid ATF-6NIA and could very well just go to their NH facility myself (I live 45 min off the Vermont/QC border).

I saw on other forums that if you are not in the US, it is useless to even try to call Ruger because they will just direct you to their representative in the country (that's what their voicemail said as well).

I am pretty bummed as I loved it. I don't have the issue with my 627-5 PC but then again I very rarely shoot 357 MAG loads out of this gun.

More info please. If you don't hear from Snapshots in a timely manner send another email or call. They miss comms sometimes. I have dealt with them lots for parts and work, they are solid.

* I have not fired reloaded ammo from this gun * But if I had, it would have been 13.8 gr of Alliant 2400 behind a 158 gr campro SWC plated bullet and CCI 550 small magnum pistol. And those loads would have been easier than the Blazer ammo I fed it.

I see the three cracks that you're talking about, did they start out like all of those other smaller looking cracks... or are those even cracks? Is there a large gap (relatively speaking) between the cylinder and forcing cone?

It started with erosion that looks pretty abnormal. It is only this weekend that it split in three places as you can see on the pictures. It is deformed now.
